I think you handled yourself well.

ETA: A frosty "i BEG your pardon?" wouldn't have been amiss either. But you handled yourself quite well. With aplomb even.

I would add the raising of an eyebrow and a modest sneer.

This was beyond inappropriate.

He's an ex-boss thankfully - Jason had stopped working there about 10 years previous.
