I use this all the time now.....

With my father! He is great, but he's one of these people who likes to say things that he knows will get a reaction. (In the past he's often said them to me because he knows i have a hair trigger temper.) An example is: the other day we were talking about my taste in movies (supernatural, thrillers, action mainly) and he looked at me and said, "We all know you haven't got a deep and meaningful bone in your body." Previously i would have gone off, "You can't tell that about someone just because of their taste in movies..!" etc. This time however, i just grinned and said, "That's an interesting assumption."

Wow! It's great that you found a solution for dealing with his rude remarks.

He sounds like such a charming man... not. Good for you not letting him get to you!

Honestly, what a thing for him to say to his daughter.  :o
