I just got a reply from Ms PITA.

She said (slight paraphrasing) "I did not speak on your behalf and I would never presume to do so.  It was just a simple question to get a simple answer.  I was meeting with Boss on another matter and just quickly brought it up."

Sigh.

I like how she denies speaking on my behalf.  What else do you call it when someone says "I told Boss what you said" instead of letting me say it myself?

I also do not care for the excuse of "it was just a brief discussion".  I say: brief discussions can involve key information and decisions, and can be very important, so I want to be involved in them if it concerns my work.

So, I'll wait a day to cool off and then email her back saying: Brief or not, I want to be involved in these conversations.  I want to express my ideas myself, and hear directly what Boss has to say.  When something comes up about this project, contact me first before going to Boss.

We all know how these things work.  The one nattering in the boss's ear is the one the boss will think is doing all the work.  So clearly I'm going to have to fight fire with fire and beat Ms. PITA to the punch a few times.

And the woman wonders why I don't like her....
