Animal Control accompanied the police to a subsequent visit and after shooting tranquilizers into Dexter took him into custody.

Dexter awoke in the vet clinic the next day, his head hurting from all the meds and discovered they had operated on him!

We never did finish this story.

A cafeteria worker spotted him and took him home for for his daughter, as they were new in town and she had no friends yet.
