Monday I went to work with what I thought was allergy ears. By lunch I had some serious swelling on my neck, and a lot of pain.
I tried to call my doctor, but the kindergartners were walking into the lab. The librarian came and took my doctor's name and my birthdate (we go to the same practice). She called and got me an appointment. She had one more class in the library, so as soon as that was done she came in and took over my 2nd graders and the 3rd grade group. I left and went home to rest.
I went to the doctor's after hours clinic (when my appointment was). The doctor figured out what was wrong and found a non penicillin antibiotic to treat the infection and said I had to stay home Tuesday.
When I get home there is an email that the lab is going to be closed Tuesday, which surprised me I was expecting it on Wednesday. So now I'm in a panic, because there are no back lesson plans for the lab to be down.
I call my principal at home, she suggest the music teacher take my kids. I call the music teacher, and she offers to take my kids with the sub. So that is what they did today.
I was hoping to go in tomorrow - but I can't swallow very well, still have a temp (unusual for me), and I've had maybe 5 hours sleep in the last 2 nights.
So the music teacher is going to take my kids and sub again tomorrow. (Art teacher doesn't have enough room and coach refuses to take other teachers classes unless directly ordered to do so).
The librarian is also going to bag the remaining computers to protect them from the dust (new countertops were not designed correctly leaving one wall of old pipe tables. The construction people are putting countertops along that wall over break). I suspect the art teacher will pitch in.
I know that the Art Teacher, Music Teacher, and Librarian love Starbucks. I thought I would buy 5 Starbucks Cards and thank you notes. That way if someone says Coach K or Coach P helped I'll have one for them. If not, then I can either use the extras or give them to cousin C and Cousin S who love coffee, but won't treat themselves.
I've taken the art teacher's kids for 2 class periods when the construction people took all her supplies out of her closets over a weekend and done favors for the other two. They usually buy me a coke as a thank you, but I feel they are doing a lot more this time.
