Brussells Sprouts

Hungarian Baked Sprouts

Pint brussells sprouts, cleaned and trimmed
4-5 strips bacon
1/2 cup minced onion
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 pint sour cream
plain bread crumbs
butter shavings

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Cook sprouts in adequate water, bring to boil on top of stove, reduce heat and simmer 5-10 minutes according to size of sprouts.  Drain.

Brown bacon and onion in frying pan, pour off half of rendered fat.  Add cold water to pan to chill down, break up bacon into bits.  Stir in sour cream, then sprouts until coated.  Place in baking dish, sprinkle on bread crumbs, top with butter shavings, and place in oven for ten minutes.

Excellent with any beef or pork dish or chicken paprikash.
