UPDATE:
There is an article in today's paper, about this situation. It describes the accident that caused "BenefitBoy's" injuries (I love that new moniker, by the way...you guys are hilarious!), and says that at the time, they had been researching "emergency-only medical insurance." But at the time of the accident, they were uninsured.
He says he feels that he's earning good money, but doesn't have a dollar to show for it. It all goes out, and now they've already paid out on credit cards, $8000 they don't have. (Cry me a frickin' river!)
"EntitlementGirl" is quoted as saying that they might not be able to keep their home, and that before this "catastrophe," they were barely scraping by as it was. Everything BenefitBoy makes goes straight into the bills. And believe her, the bills are insane with three kids.
BenefitBoy is reluctant to accept tax-funded assitance, which he views as a mandated and involuntary assessment out of other people's pockets. He prefers to work hard for what comes to him. But as he admits, and his wife worries, this is a difficult time. (Hello? She's NOT his wife! And two of those kids are her ex-husband's!)
EntitlementGirl says, "But we're getting scared." (Awwww! Poor baby! Get a JOB!)
The benefit concert is scheduled for January 6th, to help the family raise funds to pay the medical bills. EntitlementGirl is recruiting local friends and entertainers to assist and perform.
The article finishes by saying that if anyone in the community would like to assist the Benefit-Entitlement family, or talk to them further....and gives their contact information.
Mr. Diva is concerned that he may be roped into having to perform, if his other bandmates want to play for this fiasco. I told him that in no uncertain terms, that I would put my foot down on that one. I do not interfere in band business, but THIS is utterly beyond the pale! If they want to perform, they can do so without him. We will have other "plans."
