Personal Twitter

My mother joined Facebook a month ago, and I added her as a friend.  I honestly didn't care, I don't put anything salacious on the internet to begin with.  However, she's started messaging me 3 or 4 times a day.  Nothing important, usually silly little things like "I love doughnuts!  I think I'll go to the doughnut shop today!" or "I cleaned under the couch!  Guess how many hairballs I found?"  And yes, she does understand the difference between messages and status updates, which she also updates frequently.

I can not access Facebook at work, and even if I could, I wouldn't waste my time responding to those messages.  I check it once a day, typically after she's already gone to bed, and usually only respond to things of substance.  Now she's upset that I'm not responding to all these PMs.

How can I convince her to stop or at least lighten up on this?

Is your mother lonely?  Ask her not to send so many messages because you don't have time to read them.  If possible, spend more time with her.
