"It Was in My Blog"
Nannerdoman:
I've run into a situation lately in which, when I see a friend, I ask what's going on, how did a particular project work out, did she enjoy her vacation--whatever. The response is a cold, semi-reproachful look and "It was in my blog".
Excuse me for preferring to interact with you personally and catch up via human conversation rather than looking up and reading one of your numerous blogs!
jimithing:
This is annoying. I write a blog and am an avid blog reader.
I never assume that someone saw something in my blog and will treat them as if they didn't.
RedRuby:
What a snotty response! I think the subtext of that response is, "aren't I important enough to you that you read my blog with avid curiosity every day?!" It would have been hard for me NOT to respond in a very snarky way.
Oxymoroness:
Back before blogs existed (in the dark ages), I had a friend who would write long letters. The outer envelope would be addressed to one person with instructions inside to "pass on to everyone." Then, when I'd ask her how she was doing she'd be shocked that I didn't know. For this and other reasons, we've mostly lost touch...
... except for Facebook of course.
You can always just say to your friend, "Blogs are great, but they just can't replace verbal communication. I'm asking because I'm interested in how you are doing."
Tai:
POD. I will comment in person if I read something on someone's blog, but to *assume* that everyone reads mine? Uh, nope.
"I put it on my blog" said like that says "You're not important enough for me to waste the breath to tell you about it in person- if you *must* know you should have read my all-important blog".
Not to say that "Oh, I put that on my blog! XYZ happened, then the funniest thing happened...." is rude, nor is the mere mention of your blog.
