I think the OP's post is humorous and not rude. It's not directed at any particular person; it's more of a lighthearted commentary/opinion on this trend of posting these "spread the awareness by copying and pasting this into your status update" blurbs. Anyone doesn't like it, well then too bad, so sad, they don't share her sense of humour. But they like her enough to be friends with her, right?

I did laugh when I male friend posted this one on his status update:

"URGENT! FACEBOOK VIRUS ALERT.... An email recently went out to women asking them to post the color of their bra. .... THIS IS A VIRUS..... To fix it, you must remove your bra, then go to Settings>Enable Webcam>Record Movie. Please repost to your status to let everyone know."

I agree. I think it's no more rude than complaining about other social phenomena.

I have to agree with raintree and familyfun. If the part about the awareness updates is not added, then the message the OP wants to put out is lost, and it becomes a Monty Python update.

And now for something completely different, I notice that a disproportionate amount of the quotes suggested here comes from the holy grail. So just to compensate:
If anybody here is in a medical expression, you can use:
"It's allright, I'm a doctor"
and off course the everlasting:
"Nobody expects the spanish inquisition"
Wherever you go..... There you are.

And what is the message? "Ya'll are annoying?" "What you're doing is stupid?"

This is how it reads to me.

I've got to admit, I have a distaste for this sort of meme. They make people feel that they're doing something beneficial to society, when they're not achieving anything of the sort. I doubt that one single case of cancer will have a happier outcome from this, but people will think that this fills up part of their daily quota of "good things to do".

"Why should I pick up that piece of litter? I posted my bra colour online, haven't I done enough for this world?"

I certainly didn't feel that way.

I thought it was fun and a reminder that "BC is out there, check yourself." It also did generate a lot of attention and who knows, maybe someone of the millions of people on FB did decide to make a donation because of it.

It certainly is not hurting anyone.
