Is this status update rude?

What I don't understand is all the offense taken at a silly "for fun" game that is completely voluntary and easy to just skip over if you don't want to play along.

I think the annoyance (okay, mine) stems from a couple of things:
1. The insinuation that people "don't care" or are heartless if they don't participate. That offends me. (That whole "93% won't do it" thing.)
2. That some people are trying to turn Facebook from a fun, networking site into a "cause" or "awareness" site. Some of us see enough terrible things on the news and even in real life; maybe we don't want to see it on Facebook as well. As soon as I see "Copy and paste this as your status!" I want to write something frivolous instead. Really, you want to make a difference, donate money, volunteer, whatever. Don't think that you've done your part by hitting copy and paste. Because you haven't done anything.

Do you think it would be rude though? I don't want to make fun of people who post "copy and paste" statuses, even though I totally am. But maybe it's lighthearted enough...

I don't know. I'm not a good judge of that, since I had to post this topic to ask about whether a status was rude or not. Let's see what the other e-hellions have to say!

It doesn't specifically indicate a negative opinion of them so it would probably be OK - though I'd tread lightly if any of your friends are sensitive.

My friends are not particularly thin-skinned, but best to be cautious. I won't status it, but I'm glad I got to share the laughs with you guys anyway.

Not so much rude but it could cause hurt feelings.

Last summer one of my friends had a status "If I see one more post about the weather I'll scream" Now I had posted a remark about the weather, and obviously quite a few others had too but I felt like she thought weather related remarks were below her. She's generally quite wordy and showy about her ultra smarts with witty updates and I just felt she was looking down her nose at those (me) who were inanely posting about the weather.

And add to that, weather discussion is my favourite bean dip
