I HATE(with the burning passion of a bajillion white hot suns) Butterfly Kisses.

"Why?," you ask.

Because not every girl has a father that cares about her.

Heck, I get along fine with mine, but this is treacly gluck and if I suggested playing it for him I think he'd drop over from sugar shock.

"Wonderful Christmas Time" by Paul McCartney and Wings makes my eye twitch.  I have to leave the store if it starts playing while I'm out Christmas shopping.

So THAT'S who inflicted that horrible song on us. Curses!
If wisdom’s ways you wisely seek,
Five things observe with care,
To whom you speak,
Of whom you speak,
And how, and when, and where.

OT:  I saw the singer/songwriter of 'Butterfly Kisses' on Oprah once.  She asked if he'd written a song for his son.  He said no, but if he had, it'd be called, 'Get down off of that!'
I have CDO.  It is like OCD but with the letters in alphabetical order, as they should be.

I told my DJ the same thing about "Achy Breaky Heart" Cannot stand that song!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4M-4yDlvFo
I love it!

Sometimes at school I play Weird Al's version instead of the original. Although the kids don't know all the bands and singers who are referenced, they do get that Al is making fun of the song and they quite enjoy it.

I also enjoy "You're Pitiful":
"My life is brilliant!... What, was I too early? I'm sorry, should I... you wanna start over?
Now? Now?
My life is brilliant/your life's a joke/
You're just pathetic/you're always broke/
Your home-made Star Trek uniform really ain't impressin' me/
You're suffering from delusions of adequacy
You're pitiful/You're pitiful/You're pitiful, it's true
Never had a date/that you couldn't inflate/
And smell repulsive too/what a bummer being you!"

So funny. And better than the original.  ;)

Weird Al's voice is better, too!

Speaking of Christmas songs and retail:

I HATE, with a firey passion, Thriller and Monster Mash.  At least there's some variety at Christmas.  Halloween?  There's those two.  At least, that's what we had where I worked.

There used to be "Dinner with Drac," but nobody plays it any more.

Many places play the Purple People Eater song too, but yeah, Halloween variety is pretty thin.

I don't think Billy, Don't be a Hero has come up. Truly a bad 70s song.

Oh how I wish I'd had this site when I worked retail!  They literally played two songs the entire month of October.  We all used to joke that management was very lucky the pitchforks were made of plastic.

Okay-after dinner last night, I must put another song into contention.

I don't know if it was I love the 80s night at the restaurant or what the deal was.  But they played Toni Basil's Mickey.  Aaaarg.  Insipid, inane and about as catchy as the common cold.  So you hear it and end up singing along EVEN THOUGH you hate it.  In that vein, I would like to add 867-5309.

I would also like to add the entire montage of stalker songs that they played:

Every Breath You Take (the Police)
Private Eyes (Hall & Oats)
I Want You to Want Me (Cheap Trick)
Never Gonna Give You Up (someone I should know but can't remember right now)

I like the songs.  But playing them back to back just gave us a complete creepy stalker vibe.

I promise I'll make it through the rest of the thread (just now saw it, only on page 5, how'd I miss it?) but...

"Lay Lady Lay."  Just from the sound of his voice, and the way he expresses himself, I'm not getting anywhere NEAR his big brass bed!   :P

Also, almost any rap song.  A contradiction in terms, that:  it's rapping not singing, and it has very little (original) music, so why call it a song?  ???

There are more, but...

And you could have played this at the employee Christmas party:
