I just heard back from him after my apology. His response explains the "to" him. He was very nervous during that first taping and hated the way he said certain things (he thinks he rambled a few times). He also thinks he smiled too much. Yes, you can smile too much, especially when talking about car wrecks and foreclosures. Regardless of how well I think he did, he was uncomfortable with that particular show, and he didn't want friends and family seeing it. He said the today's taping went much better, and I can post it next Thursday. He thanked me for removing the post.
It all makes sense now, and all is well. Lesson learned: While I didn't do anything wrong, exactly, recognizing how upset he was, apologizing, and taking action to fix it went further than arguing. He also had enough sense to know that I posted because I was proud of him.
