GC - can you take a tip out of it?
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:12:59 PM »
I'm buying my friend a g/c to the crimson crustacean restaurant for he and his mom for Christmas. Does anyone know if he can include the tip by using funds in the g/c? If not I think I'd rather send him a check.

Thanks

It may depend on the restaurant. DH and I were able to do that once, but I don't know whether that's universal. You could try contacting their corporate office and asking.

You can definitely put the tip on the gift card at the Crimson Crustacean.

You can! When the server brings the slip back to the table, your friend will have to sign it, authorizing the tip. They can't just fill in a tip and leave it blank. At least, that is what they told me when I used my card recently. :) And what my Aunt has told me (she works for corporate).
