What weird/outrageous requests have you seen on Freecycle/Craigslist?

I had a great Freecycle encounter.

I began subscribing to HGTV Magazine but did not receive the June/July issue. When I contacted the publication they said they did not have any more issues but would extend my subscription. While I appreciated that, I preferred the issue. (I like to keep my home decor and cooking magazines.)

I put an ad on Freecycle and another on CL looking for it. On CL, I offered $5. No response from there, but yesterday, about a week after I placed the Freecycle ad, a woman responded. She had been cleaning her house and found that particular issue. She refused payment of cash or even Meyer lemons and is dropping it off later today.

I almost wonder if my ex found Freecycle. He is a self-employed construction worker, and while we were together he more than once took the building materials I had purchased for my own house (that he was living in rent-free), and used them on client jobs (that he then of course billed for materials).

If I were that mother, I'd be calling the police on that twerp of a son.  It also makes the person who bought the Jeep in possession of stolen property.

A lady wants someone to come and help her do a video of her cat doing 'amazing things'. Now it could just be me but if you seriously have no one else in your life who is interested in videoing your cat and you have to put a sign up asking total strangers to help you you are either...

a) a mental case
b) a little bit too impressed with your pussy for no good reason
c) have far too much time on your hands

I don't think it says that the jeep was sold without permission. I think it is the lamp and that when he sold the lamp, he was driving a green Jeep.

Not the posting to Freecycle - the responses.

I posted a musical instrument to Freecycle (VorSon hasn't played in four years - time to pass it along).  After more than a dozen responses in thirty minutes (ranging from "I could really use it for myself or a music student in the household" to sob stories trying to wring my withers and get the instrument for themselves no matter what other people had said) - I posted a "taken - pending pickup" to the list because I couldn't seen having a dozen no-shows.

I've had another four or five begging emails from people, some of them having responded to the "taken - pending pickup" email and apparently trying to out wring my withers from any previous email asking for it, as they "deserve" it more.

If the symphony member doesn't pick it up - it's going to the guy who does the Blues Brothers tribute.........after that, I go back to "chronological order that the request was posted in" - but I doubt I'll go through all twelve or fifteen saved posts before someone picks it up.

It was actually the lamp that was stolen, but I think I'd still call the cops.

Today my local Freecycle had a post offering 3 half used expired bottles of mouth wash.

Yum.

Sometimes it's OK to send things to the landfill.

Better yet, dump the wash and recycle the bottles.

Apple's brand new iPhone 5 just came out.  I've seen (or heard of ) at least 3 different requests on Freecycle groups for the iPhone 4.

That actually makes sense to me. Lots of people will be getting rid of their old phones to get the new one. If you don't care about having the latest phone, now is definitely the time to advertise for last years model!
