I have a co-worker about whom I "joke" that, when she takes a vacation, she always manages to add two extra days to it.  How?  By talking about nothing but her vacation the day before she leaves, and then discussing it endlessly the day she returns.

Someone I RP with on Tumblr changed their character's 'face claim', nationality, and first language, but said "Everything would still be the same."

Um, no it's not.  It completely screws up storyline continuity, since our characters have been interacting for over a year.  It's not a big deal, really; if I wanted to make changes to my own character, I'd expect other RPers to respect my wishes.  It just makes me wonder what else is going to be changed.  ::)

I've been at my current job for seven months, and in that time, I've had to find three new routes to work due to construction.  Now my current route will be closing down at the end of this week and I'll need to find yet another one.  I understand summer is short and road construction is going to happen, but I'm starting to wonder if they (MnDOT, city of St. Paul and Ramsey County) ever consulted with each other during the planning process.  There's only two exits open on a certain stretch of highway, and one of those side streets is closed starting next Monday through Mid-October!  How many times am I expected to find a way to work before giving up?

Also, I told my boss about the issue this week and mentioned that I might be late on Monday if my route takes much longer than I expect or I'm having trouble following it.  She said, quote, "This is not my problem.  You will be here and you will be here on time.".  Sheesh, just trying to let you know there might be a reason for my lateness on Monday if it happens!

Bad timing.

I've met someone special, and our first 'real date' is Saturday.  Exactly 2 weeks before I fly overseas for six weeks.  Sigh...

I hope your date goes well, and that you and your date can pick things right back up when you get back!

Karma has a way of biting people like that. You might even be lucky enough to witness it.

My cousin met his wife a few weeks before she was due to go overseas for a year.  They are married with three kids now!  Not saying this is going to happen for you but it does work out sometimes!

Same thing with my brother. He and his now wife met on match.com and only communicated via email and phone for the first 6 weeks because of their schedules and the fact that he was taking a long vacation shortly after they met. They had their first official date when he got back.

When I met DH, we knew each other a few months before he went away. When he came back, I realized I had missed him. That was 20 years ago. Absence can be a good thing and you can always send emails.

The 50 Shades of Grey movie trailer just came out. Everything to do with that danged book drives me completely up the wall, including seeing it in the news all over again. I hope the movie tanks, but I'm sure it will be a huge hit (pun) and we'll have more people trying to convince us what a strong and determined heroine and romantic hero the two MCs are all over again. *rage*

Right now it's people who sleep all day.  We have DH's best friend from HS and DH's cousin visiting.  All they want to do is sit in front of a screen - video game, Youtube, TV, you name it.  They don't like any of the food that I prepare, or the food at any of the restaurants we've taken them to; they prefer corn dogs from the gas station and gallons of soda.  OK.  But Cousin, especially sleeps 12-15 hours a day.  Yesterday he didn't get up until nearly 5 pm.  They stay up late til the early morning playing video games,, then sleep all day.

I guess if I think about it, I'm baffled by people who have absolutely no interest in anything around them, and who can't appreciate anything at all.  The best I can get out of either of them is a grunted 'It's OK'.  And I'm annoyed because seriously, people have actually enjoyed my food in the past; I've never had anyone just cram it in mechanically as if they had to get it over with.

I am an owl, not a lark. I do not function in the morning before the second cup of tea.

Well, no, that isn't quite true. Some part of my brain functions beautifully. I can maintain my share of a conversation, apparently. I make sense, I interact. I just don't know about it later. I have no recollection of it. Once I'm dressed and downstairs, I'm good to go but before that?

Given that my DH and I have been in a relation.ship for over 30 years now, you might think that he would remember this, and not tell me his plans for the day - which require me to change my plans - while I'm sitting in bed, taking on my first tea fix of the morning. Yes, darling, I know I answered you but I have no notion of what you asked me to do. None.

Can you convince him to write down whatever it is that he wants you to remember?
