Re wrapping the food:  What bothers me isn't the neatness of it, but the fact that stuff that isn't wrapped or closed properly will go bad, and I hate hate HATE wasting food.

Yeah, the neatness is just a side effect of wrapping the food tightly and properly.  I hate wasting food too, which is why I take care to wrap and close things tightly.  If food could be preserved to the same quality without doing so, I wouldn't care as much "how" it was wrapped.

Just another thought... I guess if you have lots of people sharing the food it wouldn't be so bad if you know that bag of chips will be done within a day or two, but for a single person like me, where it may sit there a long time, it's definitely very important to make sure that the bag is closed!

Low-quality materials, and shoddy workmanship.

Same here.  Food is expensive.

My DH has a bad habit of making a sandwich and leaving the lunch meat and cheese of the counter.  Drives me insane.  He doesn't do it much anymore, but it took awhile for him to understand that he might as well pull a $20.00 bill out of his wallet and burn it...the effect is the same.

Pie carriers - the lack thereof. How hard is it to make a short round container? Occasionally I can find assorted containers too small in diameter to hold a pie pan, but never when I *need* one. And when I suddenly want one, I find one. From Tupperware. For $20+. This really seems an excessive cost. Is there really so little market for a stay-fresh option for pies?

I have #7 down - it's from the container store for about $6. I only use it about 2-3 times a year, but it does keep the pie fresh and is good for transporting.

The total glut of information about an incident - which is to say, the same article re-printed on 40+ web pages - with no follow-up posts.

Being "asked" to change my music lessons each time some kid's secondary activity changes. I have a life too and it should not have to revolve around someone else's choice. double annoyance if the parent and kid wait out side my lesson to ask. I've only had one parent interrupt my lesson, it was not pretty.

It may be a one time thing for the kid  -but I get it 4 or 5 times a year with several kids wanting to switch each activity "season" 5-7 on a Wednesday is apparently a good time for everyone. But that has been my time slot for years.  The music store where I take lessons even tells the parents that they won't ask 'cause I'll say no.

I guess none of those kids has been bitten by a goose. That hurts, and there's a reason for the term goosing - they tend to go for the groin. It leaves a lasting impression, and I'm not just talking about the huge purple bruise it leaves.

THIS!  When I was a kid, we kept geese and one day, one of the kids I hung out with decided to chase them.  We told him to knock it off but he wouldn't.  One of them got sick of his abuse and let him have it.  The contact was in the upper thigh and he never did that again.  And fortunately, his mom told him he had it coming, what on Earth did he think was going to happen?

The scary thing is, nowadays, the mother would be threatening you with a lawsuit because her pwecous baby got bitten, and you should have protected him!!!!  It's so disgusting.

Our county has sense. If you call animal control about a livestock bite on someone's property they ask the owner if (a) You had the right to be on the proprty (b) Was the child aggrivating the animal? (c) Is the animal normally vicious?

If the answers aren't
Yes
No
Yes

They will tell you to stop wasting their time and watch your (redacted) kids. When my goose taught a kid a lesson about jumping our fence, the animal control officer actually fined them not only for tresspassing but for endangering MY animals.

YES - I'm glad to know common sense exist some where. When we were kids at some golf event, my sister was bitten by a swan. We had been feeding them earlier, sat down a distance away to eat our picnic lunch. One swooped over and tried to take Sis's sandwich from her hand.

The people from the club were quiet nice. Gave sis first aid, and information about the animal for our doctor. Sis was told by our parents that  she was partially at fault. They had told her to keep her food above the table, instead of holding down by her side. She was told it was just like being around our dog and holding food at his level.

On the occasion when I was bitten, I wasn't even aggravating the geese. I was just standing what I thought was a close but safe distance to watch the two parents lead the babies to the island in the center of our pond (it was around 30-40 feet away). Daddy goose disagreed with my assessment of the distance.

Ah.

Yeah, Daddy Geese are WAAAAY over-protective. Mine were trained to run to me when I whistled, and still I sometimes had to whistle a few times before my males would come back if there were goslings involved.

Not to mention one of them thought my little cousins WERE his and attacked my grandmother for yelling at them.

Buying a new pair of shoes, that felt fine and comfy in the store, wear them at home and it's like they shrunk because now they're too tight and giving me blisters.
