Anyone else singing "Goodbye Earl" by the Dixie Chicks?

UPDATE: he sent out invites a month ago, but i never got it, and it never came back to him.  so its in the PO black hole!  He probably thought I was an idiot asking about the details, when he sent me an invite, but as I never got it, how could I know? hahahahah - so all is well, just awaiting the address of the restaurant.

One of my friends who is known for being very disorganized had a BBQ at his house.  In our circle of friends, things are often potluck so he told us to 'just bring something' and wasn't interested in keeping track of who was bringing what.  The day of the party, there are several snack items like chips and dips.  The best part was my friend threw a BBQ and the day of the party he realized he had no grill.  We wound up getting pizza.

Realized he had no...  That's like not knowing whether or not you have a microwave.

Oww...

Interesting!  I didn't know there was such a distinction.  So snafu is an acronym and FBI is an initialism (new word for me).

The most interesing part is off course that the poster who first brought this up was wrong about url, according to this article it is both being used as an acronym or an initialism.

This issue also remionds me that, since in dutch "lol" is a word (meaning fun) I am used to pronouncing LOL as an acronym. I always have to think really hard when I hear it pronounce as an initialism, which is the most common way I believe.

Well, no.  I can call America Online "Ahohel" or the FBI "Fibbie", but that doesn't make them acronyms.  Like URL, they are still initialisms.
