I crawled, and my brother sort of scooted along on his bottom.  I have another relative who crawled backwards, and would cry because his toy was moving away instead of getting closer.  We all walk and move normally, but we've got other things going on.  Nothing medically unusual, though.

So, for things that drive me up the wall?  Yesterday, I saw a stink bug come out of the vents of the air conditioner in my room.  I almost cried.  :P  The sanctuary has been breached...

kherbert - quick question if I may?  Brain Gym exercises?

It's so important for babies to learn to crawl well and not be forced into "walking" prematurely, but it seems many people are never told of the reasons behind that (helps "set" brain signals correctly).
I'm not familar with brain gym exercises. I do know that Mom refused to use one of those scoot around walker things that have been discontinued/outlawed. Her reasoning was that it was dangerous. That kids walked when they did, because they were better able to understand no/dangerous. "walking" earlier meant they were able to reach things that were dangerous. Point proven by 1 cousin who used a walker thing and was able to grab the element of the oven resulting in 3rd degree burns. Another fell down the basement stairs. (happened within a couple of days of each other - everyone in the extended family threw the things out after that.)

I think the bear walking was a result of the wiring in my brain not a cause of it - because I did it naturally on my own. My parents assumed I did it because of my skin condition. In a normal crawl position more skin came in contact with the carpet (shag it was the 70s) and that itched. Loren also bear walked. SHe was diagnosed in Kinder with dyslexia which is very early in the US. She is somewhat amidexerous - and at 8 still has to think about what is left and right if given completely verbal directions. She doesn't have the cordination problems - but she has been in dance from 2 or 3 yo (paternal grandmother owns a dance studio) Also her Mom (also dyslexic) and our dyslexic cousins don't have near the problems with motor skills I've had. But we suspect that part of my problem especially with fine motor has to do with my skin conditions. My hands HURT and until some new medication in the last 10 years my fingers would fissure when I did things like try to hold a pencil firmly, button an "oxford" style shirt with smallish buttons, sometimes even tying my shoes.

I am an avid watcher of Duck Dynasty. I follow several pages on Instagram that share funny quotes from the show, added to pictures.
Someone used a quote from Si which included the word "heffer" which we all know is spelled heifer.

A comment was made about how they "loose" respect for pages when they misspell words.

Our 15 month twins, who probably only sleep through the night 3 nights out of 7 right now, slept through the night the past two nights while I was out of town on a girls weekend. On one hand, I'm happy my husband didn't have to deal with that aggravation, but on the other hand, I freely admit to wanting him to get a taste of what I typically have to deal with when he's the one out of town!

I can understand that. When the Piratebabe (now 16 months) was really little and starting to get to the point where he'd occasionally sleep through the night, Dh and I would take turns. One night I'd get up with him, the next DH would.  Go figure, he'd sleep through the night on DH's nights, not mine. :P Not fair!

Yeah-I try and get up with them during the week, since I'm a stay at home mom, and he gets up first on the weekends, but I'm still here and can get up if they're both screaming. There've been times he's been gone on business trips and they've both been screaming, and I've had to deal with it, so part of me wanted him to get to experience that too...

*headdesk* Having friends drag me into a personal quarrel he/she is having with another friend of theirs, then having them get angry when I say that I don't really want to be involved.  You know...maybe I didn't want to be involved because I actually agreed/sided with the other person, and because the whole thing is none of my business.  It never stops at venting, because I am ultimately asked "Was I right?  Were they wrong?"  No, friend wasn't right.  No, friend's friend wasn't wrong to be angry.  Do I really have to say it?  :-X

How aggravating.  There is a big difference between frugal and cheap!

I agree. and it only gets better. SHe left me a very tearful voicemail saying her transmission blew up today (this is the second one; already replaced once in this car) and that her DH called the mechanic and screamed at him, and now the mechanic wants to sue them (I'm guessing her DH also threatened to dispute the charge for the other work just done).

I am so livid right now I can't even see straight. one ahs nothing to do with the other. I am pretty sure the car was on its last legs anyway, and pouring money into it, i.e. new tires etc. was not a smart thing to do. But again, he's cheap so buying a new one wasn't an option, at least not for him.

So I don't know how this will all play out. I am embarassed for the way they treated my mechanic, who has been nothing but good to me, and the fact he's acting like such a childish a**, when he clearly knows nothing about cars etc.

UPDATE: They bought a new car, I'm guessing paid cash (I only saw photos on FB) - the cheapest he could get, and I called my mechanic's wife and apologized for inflicting him on them. She was very understanding and said it in no way affects MY relationship with them, thankfully. I didn't want them to think poorly of me. She said she isn't angry with my friend, but her DH was quite rude, screaming, yelling, profanity, what the blank did you do to my car, and so on. i said to her,  I knew he was cheat, but had no idea he was this obsessed over money. it's really quite sad.

When I become someone's punching bag on DeviantArt for no reason at all:

* the gal who wrote a novel-length rant about how everything about my art sucks.

* the gal who left a message telling me that my art is "lame" along with a delightful little drawing of a stick figure taking a poo.

* the weirdo who accused me of faking and tracing my drawings. I went to that person's profile page and was greeted with a journal posting about that person's love for PORNPORNPORN!!! What a troll.  ::)

I went to your gallery to check out your work, and I do have to say this; cut them some slack.  It can't be easy going through life blind AND stupid.

Agreed!  I just visited your page as well, and anyone who says your work is lame doesn't know what they're talking about.

No kidding.  Your drawings of Johnny and Jack Sparrow definitely do not suck! :)

My mother giving me a dead eyed stare and asking "But why?" with the implication that whatever I've just told her is a ridiculous waste of time when I tell her about something I think is interesting.

Seconded! My favorite is "Lounging Leopard" :)
In the United States today, there is a pervasive tendency to treat children as adults, and adults as children.  The options of children are thus steadily expanded, while those of adults are progressively constricted.  The result is unruly children and childish adults.  ~Thomas Szasz

You know, it's not just post counts that really make one a pillar of the forum...
