People who take a difference of opinion as a personal insult. It's like they can't understand that I can like something they don't without judging them.

Oh yes, and the opposite - that I can dislike something they like and it's not an issue.

Allergies.  I will be so happy when the first killing frost hits!

And mosquitoes.  I live in Maryland and went outside for a mere 10 minutes.  Got about 5-10 bites.  Come on winter!

Tell me about it. I've been grilling most of this summer and I always come back inside with a few bites. I'll also be happy to wave bye bye to the flies that like to wander in.

My DH did this a lot more than I liked when we were first dating.  I've had to explain to him more than once that me not liking something he does is not a personal attack on him, it is not a judgement, it is just a difference in personal taste.

I've belonged to other internet communities, and this gets to be a huge deal, and is a giant peeve of mine. Person A posts that they love Yellow. Person B posts that they love Pink. Person C posts that they've had good experiences with both Yellow and Pink, but prefer Orange. Person A freaks out that everyone is "smacking them down" and judging them. Even better when it escalates to how Person B and C are intolerant of anyone who prefers Yellow.   ::) :-\

Exactly! If I like it and they don't, hey, more for me! I will throw myself on that grenade and remove whatever it is from their vicinity so they don't have to endure it. >:D And if they like it and I don't, I will happily give them my share of the world supply of whateveritis. :P

Reverse snobbery. I am soooo tired of people acting as if their choice to spend as little money or time on something as possible somehow makes them eligible for Best Person of the Year Award.  Newsflash: getting your wedding gown out of the trash makes you no better or no worse than a bride who buys a designer gown. You've just spent your money differently!  Also newsflash: spending little money on your wedding is actually NOT a guarantee that you'll have a better marriage than somehow who spent more money.  Just like buying a Ford Escort does not make you a better driver than someone who bought a Mercedes.

Oh yes. It's all about your own priorities. I get pedicures May-Oct usually. I am finally able to afford to do it, and I stink at doing my own. I really hate when someone compliments me on my toe color, and i say, thanks, just got it done, or tried a new one, and they come out with the inevitable "must be NICE to be able to do that" Says that same someone who spend upward of $100 a month on their cell plan, and as the newest and bestest phone!  I won't spend that much since i hardly use my phone. I get funny looks about it, but my plan suits me just fine, at 1/4 the cost.

I've had people call me "lazy" for hiring a housekeeper.  Whether I'm lazy or not is a matter of opinion; my husband and I HATE housework.  We can afford to pay someone to do it for us, so we do, and we're much happier for it.

On a related note, our housekeeper is on vacation until October 3.  Woe!

Tell them you're only doing your share to support the economy and your country, providing someone with a job, stability and the chance to be independent :)

My legs! I've found out that I've got a secondary condition to the psoriasis, called neurodermatitis, and it's making me insane - itchy! And if I scratch, even once, the itch flares up worse and worse, and each subsequent scratch only makes it worse still. I've resorted to wrapping my legs in ace bandages, both to keep the treatment from getting all over, and to keep me from even accidentally scratching. ARGH!

Maybe it's an exaggeration, but would these people perform surgery on themselves because they don't want to "hire" a doctor?  Many people have little gift for housework, don't like it, or have no time.  That's far from "lazy".

I get pedicures and chair massage on a regular basis. I often get the "must be nice" or "I wish I could afford that" from people who make double my salary (I know, they are all published) at work or from people I know socially, who have the latest $$$ bag and shoes or a $$$ monthly car lease.

Everyone gets to make their own choices about how they spend their money. I don't have to justify mine and you don't have to justify yours.

I so agree. Unfortunately I see this a lot on this and other boards: it can become a competition to see who spent the less and it's often used as a proof of having a better marriage.
