Ever have a song stuck in your head?
« on: December 22, 2006, 03:52:59 AM »
Mine has been the Theme Song;

"Casper the Friendly Ghost the Friendlist Ghost you know!"

Why?  Please Why?  It is Almost as bad as when I got the Lavern and Shirley theme stuck in my head.

Or "I'm just a little black rain cloud.
     Hovering over the honey tree.
I'm just a little black rain cloud
Pay no attention to little me.
Everyone knows that a rain cloud
Never eats honey, no not a bit
I'm just floating around, over the ground
     Wondering when I will drip.

Sung by Pooh in one of the movies.

Ack! I am going Mad, Mad, Mad!

It's worse when it's Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Outta My Head." Trust me.

Because I can't get HIM or the SONG outta my head! UGH!!  ::)

I think the worst for me was after coming home from a Renaissance Festival I had one of the songs stuck for about a week -- one phrase -

No never, No never, if I live to be a 100 or a 110 will I drink a quart of that johnny jump up.

At least you all have songs stuck that people recognize. (I am the only SCA member in my COUNTY) Nobody gets me.

other bad ones are Green Acres or the Munsters

what do they call them - ear worms?

Pour Some Sugar On Me....this song is crack. It sounds all nice and fun to begin with, then it creeps in and destroys your brain.
Here's the list of songs that get stuck in my head. May God have mercy on you souls:
"Lips of An Angel" Hinder
"Barbie Girl" I HATE THIS SONG
"Boys and Girls" Blur
"Mickey" Toni Basil
"Rainy Days and Mondays" I don't even like the Carpenters...
I'm sure there are others and I'll be posting back, but those are the immediate offenders.
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

AAAuuuuugggghh!! Why did I read this thread!!!
*bangs head on desk*

One of my coworkers repeatedly whistles "Low Rider" and that gets stuck in my head.
Theme from Gilligan's Island
Theme from Hawaii Five-O (again courtesy of coworker, who isn't old enough to even remember the show!)
Last week, I had that d^mn "We Are Santa's Elves" song from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer stuck in my head FOR THREE DAYS.

Go here if you get a sound virus or ear worm

Yup, I call them 'earworms'.

I used get advertising jingles stuck in my head. As a kid I would think very thoroughly about such throwaway things as advertising and found  my head full of that ephemera.

I mostly get choir music stuck in my head. Full harmonies too, so just humming it doesn't help. Right now I'm stuck on Guilio Caccini's "Ave Maria". WAAAAH!

Yup, I call them 'earworms'.

It's a translation from the German word Ohrwurm.

I've had songs get stuck in my mind and it drives me up the wall.  I once heard the Lettermen sing their entire song, "When I Fall In Love" in my head.  It sounded very far away and I had to concentrate to hear it.  At the time I was driving in my car without the radio on, it was late at night and it was a place where I wouldn't be passing by anywhere they played music out onto the street.  The first time it happened I was in high school.  It was amazing.  I've had that happen since the Lettermen, but not to such a memorable degree.  Yep.  I had metal fillings.  They say you can pick up radio stations
I've never knitted anything I could recognize when it was finished.  Actually, I've never finished anything, much to my family's relief.

I get earwormed constantly because I have such a variety of music I listen to that songs get stuck in my head easily.

Fortunately I'm not being earwormed right now but I haven't been listening to a lot of music lately, so that might be why. :)
