Why your apt/house never seems dirty until AFTER you've cleaned it?  Mine never seems to look bad, but then I dust/vacuum/etc. and it looks SOOOOO much better!

Or if you dust, and miss a bit, it looks sooo much worse than the undisturbed dust.

This is a very pedestrian mystery, but: where the heck are my keys?! I always have them in my purse, but they're not in there. I used them to unlock the car on our way home, but I didn't open the door, so I don't know if they were in my purse in between. So I'm stuck inside on what is likely to be one of the few remaining nice days....

Driving in to work a few weeks ago, I passed a car that had a set of car keys hanging from the truck lock.  I tried to get his attention but he turned a corner before noticing me.

Maybe they're still in the car?

It's a remote-open lock with a button, so I don't think they're in the lock...but they might well still be in the car. I can't check, though, since the key to open the garage is on the keyring  >:(

How did my wedding ring get there?

I realized the other day that I wasn't wearing my wedding ring.  This sometimes happens - I'll take my ring off to put lotion on and forget sometimes to put it back on.  I was in the car when I realized this, and when I got home and finished a couple of things I looked in the usual areas.  Not there.  Hm.  Looked in a couple unusual areas.  Not there.  Becoming worried now.  I made some calls to the places I had been, said a quick plea to St. Anthony, then went downstairs and picked up some work stuff, brought it upstairs, and tried to focus on the work I really needed to get done.  I worked some but mostly worried for the next 30 minutes.  Usually, when I lose something important I have a general sense of either "it's okay, and around here somewhere" or "uh oh, really lost this time."  This one was uh oh.

Then.

I picked up one of my work items, and underneath, tangled in with a set of earpods that I had pulled out of my bag not 15 minutes before, was my ring.

It was NOT tangled with the earpods when I pulled them out.  I would have noticed that.  It was not on the area before I put the work stuff on top.  And it was not in the work stuff.  I am sure of all of that.

So how did it get there?

I put it back on, said a general "Thank you" aloud, and have been much more careful since.

I once lost the bobbin case from my sewing machine (the size of about five quarters - but the machine will not sew without it).  I finally started praying that its location be brought to my attention so I could finish my DD's new outfit.

Then sat down to await the answer to prayer (Dad was a preacher - I learned growing up that there is always an answer - just sometimes you don't LIKE it).

Next words out of my mouth is asking if letting me know where my attention was centered had to be quite that graphic, as I stood up and picked the bobbin case out of the folds in the bedspread...........where I had just sat on it.  Right "cheeK', as I recall...........

But I did get things finished and went to bed HOURS sooner than if I'd had to stay up and finish things by sewing by hand.

What happened to my eye last night???

I was sound asleep then suddenly I woke up because my eye was in horrible watering pain.  It felt like I had a fly in it and an allergic reaction at the same time, but I couldn't find anything in my eye and while it was red there was no puffing like you see with allergies.  I washed it out at the sink and it took a while but it settled down.

What happened?  I was asleep, and nothing should have gotten in my eye.

I've had this happen, too!  I think maybe an eyelash has gotten in, but I never find anything that's causing the irritation.

I have that.  It got so bad that I went to an opthamologist, and learned that my eye was drying out while I slept.  Ick factor:  The eyelid was sticking to the eye.  I have a scar on that eye, and if it stuck hard enough, the scar would tear open.  Not fun.  Gen-Teal makes gels for overnight use.  If regular use of that doesn't help, you should go to a specialist to make sure there isn't anything more serious going on.

Well, I have never had this happen before, so it might have been anything really.  But I will keep this in mind in case it starts to happen over and over again.

I read something years ago about a guy who was camping out on a cot in a friend's living room for a temporary job of some kind - his eye started getting inflamed and he was having real trouble.

After several doctor visits, he realized that he was sleeping in a draft.............that was hitting him right in the swollen eye.  Swapped around how he slept (head to foot) so that the draft was no longer hitting him right in the eye and the improvement was dramatically fast!

My roommates and I are having a personal mystery.

We have ceramic cups that are shaped like the infamous plastic ones(think Red Plastic Cups). We have them in white, blue, and red. We also have these little bowls from Ikea, which are perfect for mixing eggs or baking in general.

So where has one of the little bowls gone and the red and white ceramic cups?

We have no idea.

I found him perched on the bathroom faucet this morning!

"Always."

Watch out!  Next week he'll be getting a letter.

"Dear Blue Froggy, I have given birth to a whole bunch of tadpoles and you owe me $10 a week per tadpole until their legs come in.
Love, Pink Froggy."

Who cancelled the cleaning lady?

My mom has a cleaning lady who comes by three hours a week, every Wednesday.   Last Wednesday she failed to show (quite unusual).   My mother called the agency and was told someone called and cancelled on her behalf.

My mother assumed I did it, because I was coming to visit.   I don't even know the name of the agency, let alone where to call.   Plus my mother enjoys the lady's company, as they were once retail coworkers.
