Email address suddenly showing

Just now I noticed that my email address was no long hidden from the public.

I saw the little envelope next to my name, which I never have seen before.

I looked at my profile and the box was unchecked.  I do not believe I changed this.

Though I can't be positive, I do not believe it was like that yesterday. I tend to re-read my own posts often, so I think I would have noticed. 


Anyone else had this happen?

I just checked and my email address is also available.  I double checked my profile settings and the box is still checked to keep my email private.

I hope this will be fixed soon.  I wonder what will happen if I delete my email address from my profile; I really don't want everyone on the web to have access to it.

I don't think we can delete them.
I changed the settings before I posted this, but am glad to know you can't see it!

When you view a post you have made the email/envelope is shown because it isn't private to you.  In other words you are the only one seeing it.

When I changed my name, I couldn't get that HIDE box to work, either.

I opened up a new Yahoo! account in my new name, and changed  the email contact on eHell. It upset me, so I worked around it. I have actually used the new account that I check just a couple times a month to good use. (Dr. Oz really gets crazy about sending multiple messages!"

I'm not sure what made me think it wasn't.  But that would only mean that my email address has been unhidden longer.
The box was definitely unchecked.
Maybe I did it at some point accidentally.

The same thing happened to my profile. I never set it to be public in the first place. I'm not happy to know that my email address was apparently public for who knows how long.

Seriously! Mine is my real, and somewhat unique name! I'll change the address I use to log in soon.

Mine is, too!  And the "hide email box" is checked, so I don't know what to do....other than open a new email account (argh!)  Has anyone reported this to a moderator?

I just checked your profiles, and your emails show as "HIDDEN." I think that your profile shows you your own email address in italics if it is hidden. I think it shows up in regular text if it is public.

I just changed my profile to show my email as public... When I did that, my email address showed up in the regular font. When I changed my profile back to hide my email address, it shows up when I view my own profile in italics.

I don't see anything unusual about any of your accounts.  You will see your own email address regardless of the setting - it isn't hidden from you.  Can you see each other's?

Mine is, too!  And the "hide email box" is checked, so I don't know what to do....other than open a new email account (argh!)  Has anyone reported this to a moderator?

FYI, When I clicked on your profile, your email address was hidden. Only you can see it. I could not see it, so no worries!

Thanks for checking this out. I wondered about this as well because I can see my email address when I look at my profile. I looked at the other profiles on this thread, and I can't see any of their email addresses.
