Wedding subfolder
« on: July 02, 2010, 01:35:00 PM »
I'm wondering...since such a large number of wedding questions in both planning and etiquette are devoted to attire and appearance, would it make sense to create a separate subfolder where they can be discussed?  One reason I ask is because often there are photo attachments that take up a large percentage of posts.

I think since there already is a wedding planning and etiquette board on this forum, there isn't a need for any more.
I do think, however, these threads that are posted outside the wedding boards need to be directed to that board.

Isn't that what the Our Wedding Day folder is for?  I mean technically, it should only have personal threads with the date in the subject but I would imagine the generic wedding items (rings, dresses, etc.) could go in that folder as well.  How would the subfolder differ?  Maybe the long picture threads could be pinned in that folder?

Not all threads about wedding attire are about one's own wedding attire.  Also, it would be nice to have the long picture threads in there as well.

Oh, like the "Can I wear this to a wedding?" threads?  I see.  Yeah, I think it's a good idea to put all those type threads in place, they do kind of dilute the etiquette-based threads.

I don't know if it's really necessary, honestly, although it might be convenient.  As it is, the wedding folders are slow movers.  The first page of the Wedding Etiquette folder goes back to June 29, and the first page of the Wedding Planning folder goes back to June 11.  I'm not sure there's enough crowding to necessitate a whole new folder.  Maybe an official decree on whether those topics belong in Coffee Break or Wedding Etiquette would help.  The couple times I've started threads like that, I've put them in Coffee Break because it's more fashion than etiquette.

Well, the reason I suggested separating out the attire threads is that very large percentages of discussions in the Wedding Planning and Wedding Etiquette folders relate to wedding attire-more than anything else that gets discussed in those folders.

And as mentioned above, they often have lots of photos and are not always about one's own wedding attire-they are sometimes about wedding party attire, guests' attire, kids' attire, and so on.  The information is valuable-it just might be helpful to keep it separate.
