Malware warnings from a thread, what should I do?
« on: August 01, 2010, 10:41:44 AM »
Greetings!  :)

Sometimes a thread (or one certain page of  a thread) will prompt a Malware warning on my browser.

I know it's NOT from E-Hell itself, but probably a poster's avatar or signature image.  I'm still looking for a way to blacklist the source in my browser, but I was wondering what, if anything, do the admin/mods want to know about it?

I.E.: would y'all want a report on that or should I simply ignore any thread were warnings pop up?

It's absolutely not about getting anyone in trouble, it's more about nefarious sites spreading malware under the guise of cute icons, and do E-Hell mods want a report about it.

I hope I made sense ;)  Thanks for reading!!

I've gotten that warning too.  My virus protection software detects that someone who has posted in a thread has a link or something else (in a signature, I'm guessing) that was created or directs to a site that has been "known" to host malware.  Doesn't mean there IS malware;  I think it just means that there is the possibility of it.  I choose to ignore it "at my own risk."

True, it's not guaranteed to be there, and I personally chose not to read that page/thread when I get a warning, but I was just curious if the mods want a report on it.  ;D

The warning comes from "icons.iconator.com", for what it's worth.   :)
