What's for Christmas Dinner?
« on: December 23, 2006, 02:55:12 PM »
I hope this isn't a repeat, but if it is, I didn't see the original. What are you having for Christmas dinner (those of you who celebrate Christmas, that is)?

We're having lasagna, garlic bread, salad, and apple pie (hours later, when we can move again).

I forgot to add that in the morning, while opening gifts, we bake easy sticky buns for breakfast. We eat them with the oranges that Santa brought.

(Santa brings stockings filled with oranges and apples at our house)

me too...sounds like we will be having a few uninvited guests - you etiquette mavens, you!!  :P ;D

Just kidding - if I could, I'd invite the lot of you, at least so you could meet Paul. :) He's supposed to stop by for a little while.

Christmas Cap'n Crunch with skim milk, and chocolate ice cream.

Have I mentioned I love being on my own?

CHristmas Eve dinner is a Chinese Buffet with friends...unless I'm too sick to go.

Christmas Day:

I usually make prime rib but the request was made for a Honeybaked Ham so that and...

hot crab dip on toasted slices of french bread
sweet potato casserole
garlic roasted green beans
red,green, yellow layered jello
homemade rolls
sweet tea
apple-raspberry crisp

Someone mentioned devilled eggs.  That sounds good and I think I'll make some of those, too.

Mmmmm, me too! My mom bought an extra-large carton of eggs, and I don't need many for what I'm planning on making, so maybe we could spare a few for some devilled eggs. Yum!

For Hispanics, the big meal is on Christmas Eve.  FMiL made roast pork, yuka, corn on the cob, green beans with Italian dressing, and rice.

Christmas morning is my tradition, opening presents and ending with a slice of my grandmother's pumpkin pie.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Aperitif - some kind of mixture of champagne and blackcurrant liquer

Nibbles: marinaded olives, twiglets, cheese footballs

Wine (not sure)

Salmon with rocket
A small turkey with stuffing, carrots, roast potatoes, cabbage, gravy, parsnips, Yorkshire puddings and broccoli, sausages
Christmas pudding or Chocolate torte with cream/brandy butter
Very nice cheese board, crackers
After Eight style mints

We also have a big chunk of cold roast gammon and two kinds of Christmas cake plus mince pies.

P.S. What is yuka? I could search for it but it's more fun to find out from someone else  :D
