It's not ALL about the snow! LOL

Lest you all think that I only get weird calls about the snow:

I had to email this one to myself.  I'm starting a file of these whacky things!  The email below, came in on the same day a lady called me to confirm directions.  She didn't like the route that both Mapquest and Yahoo had given.  So she wanted an alternate route.  After discussing the only other alternate route, she decided that I was telling the truth about there not being some other magical way to get up here, and the one she'd been provided already, was probably better.  But then she asks:  "Is the road more winding going up the hill (mountain)...or coming down?"  Excuse me?  "It's the same road, M'am."  "Yes I know.  But it is more windy going up or coming down?"  We danced around with this for a few minutes, before I finally gave up and said, "Going down.  Definitely going down."

Then THIS email below comes in.  It took a few days for me to answer it in a professional way...without using the words "Donkey" or "idiot."


Calgon...take me away!

Was the chili-making contest one that was held at (a certain location in town)?
 
Though you are interested in the recipe of one elderly gentleman; unfortunately "elderly gentleman" could describe any number of possible candidates who may have cooked the chili you enjoyed.  If you would be so kind as to provide whatever further information you are able, I will be happy to research the issue further.

Would you even HAVE the recipe, even if you were able to identify the mystery cook?

Diva, they don't pay you enough.

(This is certainly book material, if you collect enough of them)

Did you ever see that movie with that guy, the one who was talking to that other guy with the car and the girl, she was the one who was real tall and had a friend...

Ah, vague requests.  I got a call today, a nasty coworker of mine called my stockroom asking for the magnet to take apart the ink tags.  No, actually, she asked for the, "Thing with the black thing on it."  I said I didn't know what she was talking about.  She said, "You know, for ink tags."  I said, "Sorry, I have no idea."  She came up and got it herself, showed it to me, and said, "This is the thing!"

Next time someone asks me for the thing with the other thing, I'm saying I lent it to the guy from the place  ;D

I knew it was True Love with my late husband the day he came in from the yard and said "Have you seen that Thing?"

And I replied "Laundry cupboard, second shelf, far right hand side right at the back".  There he went, and found exactly the item he wanted.

I actually thought of you and the Random Question Callers the other night when I was watching "The Devil Wears Prada." The boss Miranda, frequently launched requests at her secretary such as "Get me one of those tables I liked from the store on Smith Street."  or "Make a reservation for two at that place I met Mossimo." (Having no idea who Mossimo is or where they met.)

My favorite was when she asked her assistant to get her the unpublished Harry Potter manuscript for her kids because, "The girls want to know what happens next."

LOL  Yup!  It's nearly time to go into the office for the first time since Saturday.  There probably wouldn't be many...if any phone messages...considering it was Christmas weekend.....would there? 

As for whether I'd have the chili recipe, if I could identify the mystery cook:  I'd have it as soon as I asked him for it!  But unless I know who made the stuff, I wouldn't know where to ask for the recipe.

It's probably the guy who goes to this one restaurant, and usually sits in the corner.  You know the one...he always orders that whatch-ama-callit drink, with the little doo-hickey in it?

That happened with a boyfriend of one of my friends one day.  We were packing up her house, and he said, 'Oh I have that thing for the thing that I gave you before'.  And I understood exactly what he meant!  It was scary.
