I had one this morning! I just moved to Georgia, from Arkansas. I've lived in a non-Dunkin Donuts area for eight years, having grown up next to one (like, literally a couple of blocks from the house, and we passed it daily at least three or four times). I was EXCITED to discover there was one right around the corner, and decided to stop this morning to get my favorite breakfast of all time from a fast food place - a toasted bagel with cream cheese and a strawberry Coolatta with whipped cream. Yummy!

Instead, I left with a burnt bagel with some cream cheese (but almost none on half of it), and an unsweet tea so bitter I had to wait to get to work and dilute it and sweeten the heck out of it with extra Splenda. Oh, and no straw. The guy took five minutes to tell me he didn't have the strawberry coolatta - just some weird berry flavor. I know they have the thing - it's on their web site and in all their ads!

There's another DD a little further along my morning commute. I'll wait the extra fifteen minutes and go there - maybe they'll have what I want. *sigh*

I live in a Dunkins area.  The quality varies greatly.  I won't even go in, unless it is absolutely the only thing for miles.  I swear they run all of their tea through a dirty coffee percolator before serving.  You can't get a plain iced or hot cup of tea at most Dunkins if you don't want a coffee taste to it.

Found this on another site I frequent, and thought I would share with you all.

Wow.  That waitress had some nerve!  I don't like what the OP wrote on the napkin (it's in the comments), but that waitress was much worse.  OP should have spoken to a manager.

Last spring, I had my car AC fixed at a repair shop that was recommended by a co-worker.  The people there were nice and I drove away initially with no problems.  A couple days later, my engine started smoking and the car shut down completely.  When DH and I popped the hood open, we discovered that whoever was working on the radiator to fix the AC did not properly fasten the radiator hose.  As a result, my engine overheated.  Called the repair shop and they payed for the car to be towed back to their place.  The owner was very apologetic and fixed the car himself.  Luckily the engine was not burned out, but it came pretty close.  The owner told me to contact him if there were any other problems- so far there haven't been.

Turns out that the mechanic that initially worked on my car has a bad habit of talking on his cell phone while working, which was probably why he "forgot" to fasten the radiator hose.  I hope he was severely reprimanded or fired for that- imagine if this guy were fixing someone's brakes  :o

While I commend the repair place for owning up to their mistake and fixing it, this unfortunately was my first time to use them.  I will not be back there again.  First business impressions mean a lot to me and this was not a minor mistake.  I was stranded on the side of the road, lost a lot of time at work, and there was considerable damage done to my car due to someone's carelessness.  I don't want to take the chance that that "someone" will be working on my car again.

I drive past two Dunkin's in order to get to the good one in my area. I think a lot depends on the manager of the particular store.

The one nearest me, I swear the staff see customers as an inconvenience, an interruption to their day. They never smile or say "Hello," just stare at you waiting for you to order. It's very uncomfortable. And they only have about half the usual types of doughnuts and bagels and they are sometimes stale. The second one--well, that's mostly a matter of how difficult it is to get in and out of their parking lot, now that they have added a drive through.

The good one? Oh, my. Big, easy access parking lot and the drive through line is not in the way of people trying to park. You go in and the staff greets you pleasantly. They repeat your order back to you, to make sure that they have it correctly. And they are fast and efficient and they do not mess up or confuse orders. And they are always smiling and cheerful and relaxed. And the tea does not taste like coffee (I know exactly what the PPs mean, but this one location seems to have solved the problem).

I used to hit DD up for coffee now and then when there was one on my way to work.  But I stopped getting coffee there because the cream always seemed to curdle when I poured it in. :P I still love their white hot chocolate though.

I have gotten coffee at DD only once and I thought it was vile and burnt. It was a latte and I tried pouring sugar and cream in to make it halfway decent, but I still ended up tossing it out. My mom got coffee at the same time and said it was fine. Maybe it was just that location? Everyone seems to think their coffee is amazing and that Starbucks is bitter, but that latte was the most disgusting thing I had ever drank.

Speaking of DD, every time I go there and get a bagel I have to request the butter on the side because otherwise they slather it on like cream cheese and I have to wipe a couple tablespoons off to make it edible. Ick!

I think DD does depend on the location.  The one by my house is not good, but the one by work has donuts, sandwiches, and hash browns* that are nice and fresh.  I don't drink coffee so I can't speak about that.

re: Dunkin Donuts-do any of the stores near you insist on 'preparing' your coffee.  I prefer to add the sweetener and milk/cream myself to my tastes.  Many of the stores in central/north Jersey won't put out these items.  If you ask for them on the side they act strangely.

I've never had a DD anywhere I've visited do this.  Is that part of the whole no self service thing in Jersey :)

Yes.  I ususally say "very little cream" and get no sugar.  I've found one sugar to a lot of DD's means several, and I like just a hint.  So I'll do my own, and if i happen to be on my way either to work or home, and stopping to get some, I'll get it black ,then fix it when I arrive.

I used to love DD coffee, but either its changed, or my taste has.  I really like dark, strong coffee, and while before I wasn't a fan of starbucks as it was too strong for me, now its my preference.

I don't live in New Jersey, and all of the Dunkin Donuts around here fix your coffee for you. They are pretty good at getting it right, and you can be very specific (two cream, three sugar) about your order.

I will say most of them are ok, I'm just very fussy, and need to see exactly how much of what is going into my coffee :)

For some reason this morning I thought of my one (and only) experience of a 'facial'. It's not the kind of thing I had money for at the time but it was a gift certificate to the local 'luxury' spa so I thought, why not?

The woman spent the whole. time. telling me all about how dreadfully I am going to age and how *awful* my skin is in order to upsell me a load of products. I know that's where they make their money, but it made it a very unpleasant experience. Also a lot of what she said was just utter rubbish. I have that skin that blushes easily and turns very red with heat, exercise or alcohol so chances are that when I am old I will have lots of broken capillaries in my face. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that, but buying her brand of *cleanser* is never, ever going to make an appreciable difference to it. Note, that I already do look after my skin, just according to this lady not with 'good enough' product. I felt awful that someone had spent a lot of money on this facial as a treat for me and it was just an absolute ordeal. It's turned me off facials forever. Not only that, but several times I have told other people not to use their services and told them why.

The kicker is that although I don't get facials I do spend a steady amount on other treatments (now) and not one red cent of it goes to this place.
"Can't do anything with children, can you?" the woman said.

Poirot thought you could, but forebore to say so.

Grrr that makes me so mad. I will absolutely not go back to a place that tears you down in order to sell product.

Facials are my beauty splurge.  My absolute favorite piece of advice I received was from my current facialist who told me how to take care of my face cheaply but very well.  She actually recommended Neutrogena and Oil of Olay and told me to splurge on a cream exfoliator.  I'm almost 30 and I still have people who think I'm still in college thanks to her advice.

I do not mind a bit of an upsell at the salon/spa I go to the most for services.  Some places are super pushy about upselling or cross-selling, and if a place does it enough, I may stop patronizing the place or go less often if its a place I go to for a certain item or service.  If the big corporations or the business owners realized that upselling requirements, cross selling and/or push the store card of some kind irritated many people & were forced to spend a few weeks having to do the same things a clerk has to do, then they would less heavy handed on the requirements.
