The other issue with VOIP, at least here in Ontario, is that it doesn't necessarily register the address correctly when you dial 911.  A Bell landline call will automatically bring up the address for the 911 operators.  A Rogers Cable (in my area) VOIP call will bring up the address but most of the other smaller companies don't bring up the address right away.  There is an extra step involved and if the address isn't correct on the account, EMS could start heading to the wrong address before this is determined.

I still have a landline with Bell.  Mainly because I talked them down in price so it is comparable to switching to Rogers.  I play the two of them off each other all the time, trying to get the best deal.
I have CDO.  It is like OCD but with the letters in alphabetical order, as they should be.

We ordered a new sink from Lowe's.  Our old one was junk and I really wanted a nice DEEP single-basin sink.  I found just the one I wanted (available special order only) and a good faucet to go with.  Ordered both together and verified that both could be picked up together at Lowe's when the sink came in.  Paid at time of order.

1.  Got a call two days later informing that the faucet was in stock, would I come get it?  No, I said, I don't want it until the sink comes in.  Verified again that I could pick up both together.

2.  Got an email informing that the sink would be shipped to the store that is about 25 miles from my home.  Reiterated that I needed it shipped to the store 2 miles from my home, yes, that's where I want it, that's where it needs to go.  Order had to be canceled and re-processed for this to happen.

3.  Got a call informing me that sink had arrived.  Yay!

4.  Drove to store to get sink the day after the phone call.  Advised by CS desk that sink was at the 25-mile away store.  No apology, the guy could not have cared less.  Basically... go get your sink and get out of my face.

5.  Drove to far away store in Saturday traffic.  Fun.  Arrived and caused mass confusion as they searched high and low for sink.  Turns out sink WAS AT THE STORE CLOSE TO MY HOUSE THAT I HAD ALREADY BEEN AT.

6.  Went back.  It took them an hour to find the sink, at which point I was hoping would be big enough to drown myself in.  Again, no apologies or "sorry you've been wasting your time all day..."

7.  Sink comes out.  No faucet.  Apparently since I didn't pick up the faucet when they asked, they returned it and refunded the cost on my card (which I should have noticed, but that's hardly the point).

I WILL NEVER GIVE THEM ANOTHER DIME, EVER.  This was in January.  I didn't even bother writing a letter, because literally nothing they could do short of a free lifetime charge account would make me want to deal with their employees again.

While I have never had this experience with Lowe's, I had a similar experience with Home Depot.  I was given two $10 gift cards - which covered the fuel not my time!  But I still shop at both stores - mine are right near each other.   I passed it off as a one time incident.

My complaint is about a used book store in downtown Temple, Texas (also the ONLY bookstore in this town, no, we don't even have a chain store.)

I looked up places to buy Magic Cards and his store showed up first on the list. I also wanted to look at books so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone.

Upon arriving at his store, which was in a basement down some creepy looking stairs, my husband and I were greeted to a musty smell and unsettling silence - it looked like an abandoned school library from the 60s. The owner finally tore his eyes away from his book to greet us and we told him we'd like to look at his Magic card selection. He said "Those things? I don't sell them. They're a scam," I was taken aback, and mentioned how he was the first result on Google and might want to update his website so that he wouldn't be bothered anymore.

Against my better judgment, I did buy a book from him, but I've never been back and warned my friends about his terrible customer service as well.

My husband and I collect comic books. The closest shop is about 40 miles away, but a local book store stocks News stand covers. These are usually worth a bit more than the other first prints for the book, so we'll go in there and pick up any that are still in good condition- the book store is rough on their comics, so more often than not, we leave without getting anything.

One day we went in and found a really nice copy of one comic and decided to pick it up. We took it up to the cashier and she rang us up, put the book in the bag, and grabbed our receipt.

She then proceeded to put the receipt on top of the bag to show up the link to a survey at the bottom. It was one of those "rate the service" kind of things...

And she took her pen...

And said "make sure you give me a 10!"

And drew the number 10 and circled it on top of the comic book.

Which effectively left a giant 10 indent on the front of the book.

Comic book grading is incredibly strict...and her drawing on the book had severely reduced the value of the book because it had put a dent/crease in the cover :(

We still go in there, but if we see her working, we walk right back out.

I'd have returned it on the spot.

I was at a "Collectibles and antiques" Expo and a seller did something similar to this. I handed it back to her and asked for my money back. She said I was being silly. However, my DH told me that he was glad that I had gotten my money back because she had severely damaged the value of the item to any collector. Now I speak up BEFORE they can damage the item I'm interested it.

After reading all this medical stuff I was reminded of my situation.

Basically all my life I've been plagued by ENT-related problems. I had tubes put in and taken out many times. I got mono in high school, and got sinus infections and strep throat at least 3 times a year. Many times I consulted doctors in my hometown area (Saginaw, MI) and they all said taking out my tonsils was too drastic.

Last year I moved to Texas and a friend recommended an ENT doctor to me. The first appointment I had with him, he basically looked in my mouth and then told me my life story. I was a classic case of someone who absolutely needed multiple ENT surgeries. I'm coming up on my first year anniversary of those surgeries and my life is just completely turned around. If anyone in the central Texas area wants his name please PM me, I'd love to send business his way!

I'm glad to hear life is so much better for you now!

I am a doctor's daughter, so when I go to a doctor, I kind of know what to expect.  I am always disappointed when I don't get it, but when the doctor goes above and beyond, I always sing their praises!

There's a dry cleaner that is incredibly convenient for me (mere blocks away from home, with extended evening and weekend hours). In the past I've been hesitant to return because of the downright surly service, but the convenience factor really cannot be matched. Every time I go in, I get ticked off about the service, but end up returning months later, thinking "it can't be that bad".

Today's episode was downright hinky.

I went in about 6PM to drop off a bag for cleaning. I asked how much it would be, and the clerk said $12.50. I agreed, gave her the bag, and asked when it would be ready. She stated that it would be ready by 7:30PM--just an hour and a half away. In the past, they've usually required a day or two, so that was odd.

So I said okay, and she replied "That will be $13.50." Okay, maybe I heard her wrong or she misspoke the first time. I hand her a 20, she counts out the 50 cents and then the bills, and hands me...just the bills. I have to ask for the coins, but she hands them over.

She says something in dismissal, so I ask if I can get the claim check, which they've always required in the past. She said something to the effect of "Well, I get off at 7:30 [note: they are open until 9], so if you come back before then, you don't need a claim check." I told her that it would probably be tomorrow before I could pick it up. She reiterates that she would like it picked up by the time she leaves at 7:30, but since that wasn't convenient to my schedule, I told her again that I probably wouldn't get back there until tomorrow.

So she grudgingly writes me a claim check. And what do you know, she calls me at 7:10 saying my bag is ready and asking me to come pick it up before she leaves at 7:30.

I got a VERY strong feeling that she wanted to do it under the table, so to speak, so that she could pocket the money. If I picked it up before she left, she could dispose of the claim ticket and keep the cash, and no one would be the wiser.

Too much drama for me, on top of the habitual rudeness. I'm resigning myself to using a far less convenient cleaner from now on.

When I was a teen, I was taken to an ENT after my first round of braces was proved unsuccessful.  As it turned out I needed to have my tonsils out and needed a deviated septum fixed and had needed it done for many years.  I had fallen down the stairs at 4yo and hit my nose, needing stitches.   Apparently ever since then I had a snoring issue-major snoring at that.

I still snore but since getting my nose fixed and my tonsils out, I breathe a LOT easier at night.  The ENT actually seemed rather bothered that no one had thought to suggest to my parents that such procedures would really improve my quality of life.

My younger daughter used to get tonsillitis several times a year.   Whenever I asked our doctor "Shouldn't she have her tonsils removed?", the answer was always a reproving "We don't just whip out tonsils at the drop of a hat anymore."   This made me furious, as though I was a hysterical mother.

I made an appointment with an ENT specialist (and that wasn't easy - first I had to get a recommendation, then I had to wait months for her schedule to open up).  She examined my daughter, heard my story, and said "Well, she doesn't have anything wrong with her at the moment.   Let's just wait and see."

I said "No.   I want those things GONE."  The doctor looked a bit stunned, but honestly, I had had more than enough.   My daughter got the surgery, and she's had hardly any throat problems since.

A friend of mine bought a MagicJack to take to England when she moved, so she'd have a US number available for family & friends to call her. Works like a charm, I can't hear the difference.

My brother took one of these with him when he deployed to Afghanistan, and now we are able to talk to him between missions.

Oooh, they have really done it now, y'all.

I went in to pick up my bag tonight, and guess what? Yesterday's clerk did not mark my order as paid. Apparently my claim ticket with $13.50 written on it does not count as proof that I paid. They called the clerk and left voicemails for her, but I couldn't spend all day there waiting for them to get ahold of her. I told them that I will be back tomorrow, and I expect them to have figured it out and have my bag ready for me.

Oh, I am burning up.

Any suggestions on what I should do if they refuse to give me my bag?

Just about every business has a security camera, especially by the registers.  Ask/tell them to pull the tapes from when you were in yesterday.  Call today, because some places only keep a cycle for 24 hours.

I wrote to them on their Facebook page detailing the situation and asking the owners to take a good look at this.

We are just past the 24 hour mark unfortunately. Would it help if I went back up there tonight rather than waiting until tomorrow, do you think?

I would be up there right now, and not leave until said bag is produced.
