Oh, my! Most of my friends pay $1000 a year out of pocket for all diabetic supplies.

I hope you can come up with a better system for you.

(So. This belongs in a special US health care expenses folder? Sorry about that.)
Luci,
Thanks for caring. However, this is the el cheapo insurance my employer selected.  My choice is take it or leave it. Buying better insurance on my own would also be hugely expensive.

*blink*  I just bought a car and paid cash....if they had told me there'd be an extra fee I would have bolted.  And the taxes shouldn't have been that much - I think mine were $1200 or so, on a $20k car.

I know this is a couple of months old, but I agree 100%.  I bought my last car in 1997 (still driving it) and I went in with guaranteed financing from the local military base's credit union.  The car dealership people couldn't do enough for me.  But an extra fee for paying case?  That's ridiculous.  I don't remember how much the taxes were since it was so long ago, but I bought an $8k car.

My DH and I love TGIFridays in London and have always gotten both good food and good service there, so when we went to NYC we naturally figured we'd get a good meal there as well. Yeah, not so much. The food was boring (although not as bad as TeamBhakta experienced) and the service sloooooooow. We still go back when in London, never when in NYC.

I'm going to be quitting my bank this week.  DH and I have a joint account at a different bank (credit union) but I kept a small personal account with BOA.  I already went in once, a few years ago, to close my account when I discovered they had started charging a $10 fee on my used-to-be no-fee checking account.  At the time, they waived the fee and upgraded me to a different type of no-fee account.

Well, I just got a letter saying that if I don't keep a min balance of $5000 they will start charging a $25 monthly maintenance fee.  Not going to happen.  $25 for maintenance?  Per month?  Perhaps this better belongs in the scammers thread because I don't see where that's reasonable in the slightest.  I believe the point of the letter is, they no longer want to bother with holding my chump change for me, so I will relieve them of that burden.

I lovelovelove my credit union.  Will never go back to a big bank.  Even my last two car loans were through CU's.

RE: VS

I will never, ever shop there again.  I'm a hard to fit size (There's a 9 inch difference between my rib measurement and bust measurement), but they had a couple of styles that, even though they weren't exactly right, they weren't terribly uncomfortable.  I'd had to resort to "off the shelf" bras when the little old lady that ran the lingerie shop that I previously shopped at passed away and had nobody to take over the business. She actually hand measure everything down to the different size cups I require.  She was amazing.  Anyway, VS had been a a reasonable second best until recently, when I noticed the quality going downhill fast.  Bras that had been lasting 6 months were barely lasting a few weeks.  I emailed corporate to complain, and I got a canned email back telling me how to exchange the product.  Now why on earth would I want to exchange one poorly made garment for another one? If they can't even give me a simple "thanks for letting us know, we'll pass along your concerns to our quality control department", I have no desire to ever shop there again.

Now to find a new bra maker.  This is Miami.  There's got to be somebody who's doing it again.
Some people lift weights.  I lift measures.  It's a far more esoteric workout. - (Quoted from a personal friend)

I sometimes think that most bra companies are run by men.  Not to speak disparagingly of men, but there are some things they just don't understand, and how bras work is one of them.

A local jewelry store....

I was looking at rings and found one I really liked.  The salesperson had the nerve to argue with me about the size I requested because "No adult woman can wear under a 7".  Well, I undoubted wear a 6.  Sales person reluctantly,y agreed to pull out the ring size thingie, confirmed it was a 6 I needed, but still refused to sell me a 6.  FTR, they had a 6 in the case.  I still can't figure why they kept pushing the 7, which was obviously too big...it wouldn't even stay on my finger.  Sweet monkey fritters!!?!?!?

I left and haven't been back since.

That's crazy! My wedding band/engagement ring are 5" and 5.5", and I think my sister wears a 4.5"! We have small fingers in our family... I wouldn't go back either. Maybe she wears a 7, and is jealous of those who wear a smaller size?

I have no idea what the deal was.  I'vwe had it hapoen before, until the person looks at my tiny hands.  I've had a few pull out the sizer and be mildy shocked, but never had a refusal to sell me the size I requested.  It was just bizarre.

They wanted to charge for re-sizing? Otherwise, I got nothing (and I'm also in the 'itty bitty bird bones' category--my ring size is 4.5).  But then I found a place online where I can get what I want (they carry size 4-12).

Wow, she'd have a brain aneurysm if I stopped in. My wedding rings are a 3.75! (And I'm nearly 35 y.o., clearly an "adult".) A size 7 is too big for my thumb.

That's so weird.  I'm a 6 (or, was when I got married, I keep having to size the band up during pregnancy and then back down afterwards, so I don't know for sure if it's still a 6), and I'd say that I have average-sized hands?  I'm fairly tall, so they are *not* tiny little things.  The only thing I can think of is wanting you to pay for resizing, but if that's not it, I got nuthin'.
Emily is 9 years old!  1/07
Jenny is 7 years old!  10/08
Charlotte is 5 years old!  8/10
Megan is 3 years old!  10/12
Lydia is 1 year old!  12/14

That's strange...I wear a 7 (well, 6 3/4 on the left hand ring finger, 7 on the right hand ring finger), but my fingers are also a little flabby.  I find it impossible to claim that a grown woman should have smaller hands!

They don't charge for re-sizing for items purchased there.  It is still one of the strangest encounters I've ever had in a store.  None of it made any since.  Why carry something you refuse to sell?

I get that I may look bigger. I am actually very big boned/large frame, but my hands and feet are smaller than average.

She wanted to buy the 6 for herself is my guess.  If she could get you to buy a 7, that is.
