They don't sell it online in my country (and buying it from an overseas website will cost several times as much in shipping and import tax, if they even delivery to my country, many websites refuse to).   :(

The most they offer in my country is a list of stockists, and the only one in my area is the hopeless lot I described above.

I need to find a livable alternative to my dependency on this product anyway.

Are you able to get a list of the ingredients (or at least the active ingredients) to help in your search to find something similar?

I never thought of that! Thank you! :)

Although, the first ingredient in the stuff is "bovine colostrum", which to be honest I'm not sure I've ever seen in any other product.  I'll do some googling and see what I can come up with. (Yes, it's a gross idea, but this is the only stuff that's ever worked for my skin, so I usually just try to pretend it's not what it really is).

Wolf Way, you're in South Africa, if I remember correctly? I could ask someone I know on a farmer's group (who lives in South Africa) whether they know of anyone who might have cow colostrum, if that helps you any?

Also, this might help your search for new skincare: MooGoo it's an Australian skincare company, which specialise in difficult skin problems.

Yes, I am. That's very kind of you. Let me try out the two different "designed for acne prone skin" bottles of moisturiser I bought earlier today for a couple of weeks first. I've been googling and came up with two possible ones that have different ingredients but might work for me. If they don't prove to be viable alternatives, I'll PM you for assistance.  ;D

I gotta admit, I laughed outloud at the company name! I think I love them, just for the name. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a friend going to Australia in the next couple of months and there seem to be suppliers for MooGoo a couple of blocks down the road from her parents, and she's all gung ho about finding me some.  ;D

Is there any way to test moisturizers in the store and see what they do?

I'm going to spin this off to another thread, I don't want to drag this offtopic any further.  :)

Meanwhile, my favorite game (Master of Orion II, from 1996) still runs on my Windows XP laptop.

Good Old Games (www.gog.com) specializes in making old games cheap, legally available, and updated to work on modern computers.  Master of Orion II is on there and is well worth the money  ;D

Yep. It worked well enough before, but the optimized version is wonderful!

Colonial Cafe and Restaurant.  When I was a kid, it was THE place to get awesome ice cream.  Over time, the ice cream remained fairly awesome, but the food declined.  Then the ice cream started declining, too.

They didn't do any one thing, but the last time we went there, my chili tasted like ketchup with meat in it, and my milkshake was basically cold milk with Oreo (chocolate cookie, for those of you not in the US) powder in it.  They're more expensive than other similar restaurants, so that was the last time.  Pity- I used to love them.

Okay, I thought it was just us. The last time we were at Colonial Cafe, we noticed the decline in quality as well. Glad to know that we aren't alone but bummed that the chain has gone downhill like this.

I need to find a new place to order earrings. :-\

I can't wear regular earrings (posts stab me in the neck, hoops are either too thin or way too heavy, hook-type earrings tend to slide out, and I have some pretty bad allergies to most metals) so I'd been looking for a decent place to buy captive bead rings, preferably solid titanium as I know I don't have issues with them. I did manage to find one site, Razorblade Products, that caters to the piercing and tattoo crowd (they mostly offer bulk sales but you can order just a few things) and has got a very excellent selection, so I decided I'd shop there.

I really oughtn't have. The first order I placed was fine, if rather slow to ship and arrive, but subsequent orders just started getting more and more skeevy. Riddled with delays and "oh this item is out of stock but we can't be bothered to update the website to show it" emails. Shipping prices rose every time I went to buy something. Etcetera. I'd already made a decision that after my last order I wasn't going to buy from them again, as they - a US based company - decided that, while they couldn't fix the website not showing if things were actually in stock, they were going to go in and change all the US$ prices to euros, but what happened today has sealed the deal.

I received an email telling me "your order has been processed".

Wait. What order? I haven't ordered anything.

Upon closer inspection, this email was the confirmation of an order I'd placed...in March. March 4th, to be exact. I completely forgot about it, because they never sent me a shipment email (they only seem to send them about 25% of the time, in my experience, so it was easier just to wait for the order) and so I never actually noticed the order didn't arrive, as I didn't remember I'd placed it.

I'm just hoping at this point that they don't charge me again, as I already paid for this back when I placed the order and right now I really can't afford it!

Never shopping there again. Really should have done that sooner. Not sure why I didn't.

You can order captive hoop earrings from Hot Topic and Spencer's.

I can, yes!. But I tend to be VERY allergic to those. (The first pair I ever wore were from Hot Topic - my earlobes were nearly the size of golf balls an hour later...and my sister used to work at Spencer's and was able to confirm they're the same kind sold at Hot Topic.) I've since been told by a dermatologist to only wear titanium earrings, thanks to my allergies and the fact I'm now very prone to cysts in my earlobes.

(edit because I'm absentminded and forgot things.)

Bell Canada.

My Dad is moving.  He phoned on August 18th to set up an appointment for August 25th.  Everything seemed to go fine - there was certainly no problem with the other two appointments he set up that day.

Usually, it is just a switch so when the phone wasn't working first thing yesterday, it was strange.  I waited a bit and tried again later - still no dial tone.  Called Bell around noon and there was no record of his order.  I ran out to the house to see if he'd recorded the confirmation, which he hadn't.  Called back, requested escalation to a supervisor, since when I left today, Dad wasn't going to have a phone at the apartment.  Supervisor and I agreed that she would call me back at 3:30 to let me know when they could expedite a technician, since the first appointment they could give me was this coming Saturday, after they lost the first order.  She was calling my cell phone - I told her I didn't have it on me, that it was at the apartment, charging, but I'd be there by 3:30.  I don't have voice mail on the phone.

She called back at 2:55; I wasn't there, as I'd told her I wouldn't be.  Waited until after 3:30 to call back; immediately requested a supervisor, who promised to call back.  Never did.  Called again at 5:20.  Asked for a supervisor again, who promised to call back by 6:00.  Never did.  Called again about 6:45.  Asked again for a supervisor.  Was finally told the appointment had been expedited to today between 8 and 12.  Never showed.  Called back at 12, they had no record of the expedited appointment and it was still set for Saturday, no way for it to happen today.  So I was lied to.

The reasons I requested the appointment be expedited is that they were the ones to screw up in the first place, my father is 80 years old and has a potentially life threatening allergy and I'm not comfortable with him being there with no phone!  Plus, he has been a customer of theirs for over 40 years at this one location, not counting all the time he was with Bell when there was no other option.

We wanted the appointment for yesterday because we could wait around at the apartment yesterday.  Saturday is going to be a problem because we are cleaning out the house and no one is going to be at the apartment.  We might have to leave my Dad there and have the technician call my cell phone so I can be there for the duration of the appointment - it's only about 10 minutes from the house to the apartment.

I'm switching my own service to my cable company as soon as my neighbour's cable line is replaced (just in case it disturbs mine) and I've been a Bell customer for almost 24 years.  I'm trying to talk my Dad into the same thing and actually made a tentative appointment for next week for them to come in and install it.  Now the only question is whether or not to keep the appointment with Bell and have them come in and replace all the phone lines and get everything working - on their dime - and then switch to the cable company after that.  The cable company will replace all the lines but we'll have to pay for that.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to try to lodge a formal complaint because I'm not sure I'd keep their service if they offered it for free, I'm so angry right now.
I have CDO.  It is like OCD but with the letters in alphabetical order, as they should be.
