I received my order, done correctly, and the woman gave me the CA "Have a nice day" (aka our way of saying "f*** you").

CA?

I guress it was flipoff attitude, and glad the woman is gone, but what does "CA" mean? Thanks.

By the way, I didn't know we could amend Yelp! Glad to know that.

I think SoCalVal meant California.

Oh, dear! I hope not! In the midwest, "Have a nice day" means "Our interaction is finished. Goodby and have a nice day." I would hate to think it means, "F***you" anywhere!

I'm a native Californian and I think it could only be construed as an FU if you use a snarky tone or are just  trying to shoo someone away, which is probably what the OP meant.  I always tell cashiers and service workers to have a nice day, etc. without such meanings behind it.  ;D

I think it also has something to do with the tone of voice as well

Out here, "have a nice day" is a dismissal.  Depending on tone, it can be a friendly, offhand, abrupt, or even snarky "I'm done with you, move on" phrase.  If said in a saccharine tone while patron is storming angrily out of a business, it's a definite guarantee that patron will never darken the door again (and a 1-star Yelp review).

Please don't presume to speak for all of us in SoCal in that way. I've never used it with that meaning, nor have I ever heard it used that way.

There are any number of things that can be said that don't come across in writing as snarky.

But, in person, tone of voice, expression (or lack of it) on the face, and a few other clues will let most people (except Sheldon Cooper, Ph.D.) know what is meant...

And even in the Deep South (USA) there are a few times when "bless your heart" means "bless your heart" - if someone has heard of a death, illness, or injury in your family - it is a phrase wishing you well, when you are in trying circumstances.

Same way with "have a nice day" - depending on who says it, to whom, with what facial expression, what tone of voice, and how they are holding their body can make a world of difference.  If they are clearly angry enough to throttle you and still saying something polite...well, it might be prudent not to stick around AND be polite as well as speedy on your way to the egress.

Do you honestly believe that she meant that every single one of the 38 million Californians uses the term rudely?

The phrasing does make it sound like she's speaking for the majority.

We had already gotten rid of Comcast, but this was new.

In October, we finally had enough of Comcast/Xfinity's spotty service, abysmal customer service and downright lazy attitude and went back to satellite for our TV and another phone service for our phone.  We only kept Comcast for our internet.

Friday, we get our bill and DH notices that it's higher than it should be.  It's supposed to be approximately $50.00 per month, but it says $90.00.  DH calls their customer service.  Oh yes, they have it on record that we cancelled TV and phone in October but, well, no one actually turned the services off.  Really?  Because we were only paying $50.00 in November and December so why did January's bill go up?  Silence.

We're seriously considering getting a new internet provider as well.

Someone on my fbook feed has been complaining of issues with Comcast recently, enough to make me glad that we don't have to deal with them. I think a lot of it has had to do with shady billing practices and customer service.

The same thing happened to me when I switched from Time Warner back to DirecTV last September!  They had record of my call and of us returning the equipment but didn't actually turn the service off.  They were billing me when they actually owed me a refund.  I won't go into a blow by blow account, but it took 6 phone calls and three months to resolve the problem.  At one point they even turned me over to a collections agency.  I finally got my refund, but it was the most frustrating experience I have ever had with any company ever.  As a result, I will never use their services again.

Comcast is very frustrating for the price you are paying.  I had them at my first condo.  In my second condo, I had my choice of providers and opted for Verizon Fios - my internet was faster (allegedly the same speed) and my picture crisper (I don't have an HD tv).  Sold that condo and rented for a year.  Stuck with Comcast.  My favorite part of their service was getting calls from Comcast (part of the Comcast Triple Play) for the individual who had the number before me that the account was going to be shut off for lack of payment and all equipment must be returned or I'd be charged for it -- 3 weeks after I got the account!!!

Oddly enough, I really haven't had any problems with Comcast. We had them at our last (rental) house, and have them at our new home. The only problem was that, after being told I could self-install, we needed a tech to come out anyway. It's not their fault - they had no way of knowing at the call center that of the 4 outlets in the house, 1 line had been cut and the other 3 weren't connected. And since DH & I had been thinking of getting a new outlet put in a bedroom anyway...
