This is a random shout out of gratitude to my home town.
I moved here 10 years ago, leaving NYC and a wonderful job to marry King and raise his (now our) children. King was widowed with three little boys, and I still weep to think of the support and love he received - meals, car pools, babysitting, etc. As a result, I now chair the support group for two schools in our town - all that is necessary is that you call and say "I need help" and people LEAP to your aid. I have seen working moms with 5 kids make meals for other families; single dads drive kids to doctor's appointments; etc. - and NO ONE ever, ever asks "WHY do you need help?' - they just give it.
This doesn't happen everywhere - I've lived in a lot of places - and I thank every last one of you.
