Christmas dinner starting pistol

(1/5) > >>

willow08:
Merry after Christmas, everybody.

My holiday was pretty uneventful until Christmas dinner over at my uncle's. Dinner was scheduled for 5 p.m. We arrived in two cars. My brother and father in one car getting there at 4:39. My Mom, DD and myself arrived in another car 4:43. Brother said that everyone had been sitting down and eating for quite some time when he and Dad arrived. When Mom and I showed up, several members of the family started saying things like "You're late!" and "We started without you!"

I cannot imagine starting a holiday meal at my home without all of the guests being there (within a reasonable time limit. Not waiting two hours or anything.)

Were we rude? I'll gladly call aunt/uncle and apologize for being late if I was the one being rude. But I just don't think I was. Opinions?

Cydrius:
You weren't rude.

When one states that an event will start at a certain hour, making it earlier without warning is rude for those who miss it. Not the other way around.

kckgirl:
What time were you supposed to be there?

IndianInlaw:
"We started without you".

That was pretty apparent, don't ya think?

What time did they say?

willow08:
5 p.m. We got there at 4:43. Sorry, I think I must have edited that out.
