Miss New York crashes the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
« on: November 28, 2010, 03:59:24 PM »
Apparently, the outgoing Miss New York wanted one last moment in the spotlight before passing on her title to this year's winner, so she hopped on the float designated for another beauty queen, in full sash and tiara, and proceeded to wave to the crowd until being removed by parade organizers.

I've heard of party crashing, but I think this is whole new level of rude.

"There was no lying, because that's bad karma," Reeves said.

Oh hey, another entry for the "unclear on the concept" thread

*ETA: A woman on another site claims she is Davina's agent. She's taking credit for this stunt, saying it was Davina's last chance to bring publicity for herself and the agency  ::)

Wow!

Yeah, she's something all right. My first thought was "If she wanted one last moment in the spotlight, why on earth didn't she plan HER OWN moment?? Why take someone else's time?!?"

I'm willing to bet that if she actually had a float and one last appearance, and Miss USA crashed it, she wouldn't think it was such a great idea.
You are only young once. After that you have to think up some other excuse.

"We had a blast. This title is about growing, about being courageous and fearless . . . This was fun, and that's what life's about."

I thought it was about exhibiting grace, poise and charm.

Talk about burning bridges.

I can't get over how her agent thought this was a good idea, too.

Maybe they're after a "reality show" deal.   :P

Really, I think this is what reality television and the cult of celebrity has reduced some people to. "It wasn't wrong - I got attention, didn't I?"
My cousin's memoir of love and loneliness while raising a child with multiple disabilities will be out on Amazon soon! Know the Night, by Maria Mutch, has been called "full of hope, light, and companionship for surviving the small hours of the night."

I agree.  When there's a "scandal" in the past, a pageant queen/contestant will act remorseful.  Now they act proud and, in fact, create it themselves for publicity.

She should have crashed Kanye West's float (who even thought it would be a good idea to put him in this parade?)- then they could have been boo'd together...

I think she should have been dethroned, even if it would have only taken a day or so off her reign. That's awful.

Kudos to Rima Fakih, Miss USA, for being completely classy and composed.

That would have been ideal!

By the way, why someone with a backpack would be allowed to jump on a float is beyond me. :-\
