Found this today ;)

(and Katie's mom original blog post here http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/portrait_of_an_adoption/2010/11/anti-bullying-starts-in-first-grade.html )
 :) :) :) :)

I can really empathise with that child. I was that child. Heck, I am that child. I never caved, I never gave in, and I still regale the people around me with why my phone has a screaming tribble as the message alert ("There must be Klingons around!"). But it takes such strength of will and determination not to let the naysayers win that a young child might just go with the flow to fit in.

God bless the people who stood up for her.

I am, in fact, wearing a Star Trek pin (Command) and a Tinkerbell pin to show my support.  :)

And buying a Toys for Tots donation toy tonight (even though I already donated a science kit earlier this month).

(Go to yesterday's Cake Wrecks to see why Tinkerbell counts.  Plus, I have it on authority from a *very* avid Star Wars fan that he will "count" Star Trek + Tink.

This is why I never give up on people entirely. Just when it get bleak in my head, I read about something like this. Fighting bullies takes confidence, and now there's going to be one more little girl out there not afraid to be herself, and stand up to bullies too.

:D:D:D

ThinkGeek sent her a lightsaber. :) I knew I liked those guys.

Now I'm all sniffly...
"Can't do anything with children, can you?" the woman said.

Poirot thought you could, but forebore to say so.

Thank you!  I'm so glad I'm not the only one who got a little weepy over this.

Yes, this absolutely redeems my faith in humanity.  And in Star Wars.  :)  Now I'm doubly determined to find Star Wars crib sheets for the baby.
