Funny Amazon email
« on: December 14, 2010, 10:09:55 AM »
So I get an email from Amazon's textbook buyback.  Unless I missed something in history, Abraham Lincoln was not, in fact, a vampire hunter therefore I don't believe Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter qualifies as a history textbook...

What the heck?  Didn't he slay Nosferatu while still just a lawyer in Illinois?  ???  I know I wrote a paper about it once... :)

Ferrets, everyone knows that every war was started by alien body snatchers.

I got that email for my Dragon Age walkthrough!

And all this time we thought this stuff was fiction...  If there was a class that required this as reading, I'd have multiple degrees by now!

On a similar topic, I got an e-mail from Amazon this morning suggesting that I sell back the book I bought DH for his birthday earlier this year.  It's because they think it's a textbook (a compilation of Lovecraft stories--I guess I could see that working) but I prefer my version: "Are you mad at him for anything yet?  You can take back his birthday present now!"

 ;D
I searched for nothing on the Internet and got 175,000,000 hits.

I got the same email for "The Book of Five Rings", which is technically philosophy but not really a text book.  Sounds like the Amazon computer system has a glitch.

I got it too, for a book of short stories I gave my Dad last year as a gift. I'm not sure how "Best American Short Stories of 2009" is a textbook, but that has to be a fun class.

This makes me think of the show "Party Down".  I just watched an episode where one of the characters (he's a waiter who was/is an actor) meets an old friend at a party and the guy says he's playing a young Edgar Allan Poe vampire hunter and that the waiter would be perfect to play the young Abraham Lincoln that helps him hunt vampires.

Apparently Abe is a reknowned vampire hunter ;-)

Sounds like you need to see Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter.  ("The power of Christ impales you!")  It's a Kung Fu musical set in the 80's with vampires and lesbians and Mexican wrestlers.  It's also funny.

Yup, Amazon also thinks my books of eyecandy are textbooks.

And they also think I should read The Host. I disagree. I did once and have no intention of touching it again.
