The students on the bus
« on: December 16, 2010, 12:27:01 AM »
As I've said before, Mr. Sirius drives a school bus for students with special needs.  One of his weekly routes is driving a group of high-school-aged students with special needs to places where they can learn life skills:  The grocery store, other types of stores, etc.  Today for a Christmas present they presented him with a scarf they'd made for him out of fleece, and he said he thanked them very much and promptly put it on.

Last year, some of the students he drove made him a Get Well card in their art class after he was off work for almost two weeks with a bad case of bronchitis.

That makes me so happy.

I ride mass transit in the city, so these are public buses, not school buses, but the teenagers are simply horrifying. If I even thought of behaving like that when I was their age, I'd probably still be grounded. It's nice to know there are still sweet, caring kids out there!
