DALLAS CHANGES LOCKS?

Seriously, all politics aside, the mayor pro tem (whatever that is) of Dallas gave Michael Vick the key to the city.  Mr. Pro Tem said it was "ceremonial" (whatever that means).

The real mayor is saying "no way!"

All politics aside, who should get the keys to any city?  I thought they went to someone who did something to benefit that city.

Basically, he's not an actual mayor, he's a placeholder while the real mayor isn't there.  (Not commenting on the rest, as expressing my opinion of Vick would probably get me banned.)

I'm honestly surprised at the amount of forgiveness shown to a man who has admitted to killing dogs with his own hands by smashing them into the ground.

I get the newsletter for the group that took many of the vick dogs and reading what they were like when they got there just broke my heart. Some of them are still terrified of new humans - even though they are adopted and happy in their new homes. I don't understand how so many people can forgive him - especially since he never even admitted that he did anything wrong.

I can't talk about Michael Vick and be polite, so I'll leave that out of it.

1. The pro-tem mayor shouldn't have been giving anyone anything. It's not his job! It also leaves the real mayor in a sticky situation, especially when the recipient is... um... Michael Vick. (Can't think of a polite word, so I'll just use his name.)
2. I feel like "keys to the city" should only go out to people who really go above and beyond for their city.
3. Why on earth would the Eagles QB get the key to Cowboy Country?

The real mayor is apparently saying he wants the key back so there might be hope yet.

How do you feel about DC? At least we haven't given him a key yet. Plus, DC has lots of dog-friendly places.
