Maybe we should all cut back...

on the fiber or something.

Here's another story dealing with what is obviously becoming some sort of epidemic.

Thats pretty fun. Really there is something going on because there was one lady who had to be taken off a plane. She was lighting matches to get rid of her "issues". Really thats somebody that needs to cut back on the fiber.

I was walking behind a man in a shop yesterday and he cut one. It was unnatural and foul....but I didn't beat him up....

OK, serious question here, how to you NOT PASS GAS?  It is a normal bodily function, I read that the average person passes gass 14 times a day, we all do it.  Unless someone is doing it on POURPOSE or holding you down on the ground and sitting on your face to do it (yeah, I had an older brother, can you tell), what is the big dang deal!  I understand that the fight happened in jail, so it was probably for something other than making wind, but COME ON PEOPLE, it is just stinky air!!!

Yes, but one should not make it so unpleasant for the others around them. Letting one fly one or two times is understandable, but if one really is having a big problem with it, then they should excuse themselves until they are less gassy. It is rude to gross out others continously. And how can someone not be totally embarrassed by their constant passing gas?

Of course, airplanes and jail cells are places where it's rather impossible to excuse one's self...

I used to work with a woman that we all would have gladly killed because of gas problems.  She was not embarrassed by it at all, in fact, I think that she was proud of it.

She would let one go and it smelled SO BAD that it would fill a room and clear it of anyone who could smell.

(she used to eat kelp and all other veggies that are good culprits for this kind of problem.  I have also witnessed her eatting some things without appearing to chew, one apple, 5 bites.)

She also was very uncouth, her favorite habit was to lift one cheek off the chair and do the "aahhh, that's better" routine, and then your eyes started to water. (no joke)

We gave her a bottle of bean-o once, stuck an air freshener on the back of her chair, and had a can of spray, so we could blast back.  Nothing sunk in with her. (yes, we realized at the time that we were not being very nice, but I have smelled pig poop that was LESS stinky)

She was also talked to by our plant boss about it, that is when she was given the bean-o (either she didn't take it or it didn't help)

Yeah - I can believe fights being started over this.

It's one thing to squeak out an oops, it's another to be a vulgarian. My grandfather has always found his gas and ability to cut one at will hilarious. I did too, then I grew up....
I can't stand people who think that their flatulence is so unbelievably funny that it must be shared with others. I don't mind someone having an accident, but a performance artist?? Ick....

It is also rude to clear out entire public places which my dad did. I wanted to die when my dad cleared out the room at the Warhol with his gas. He wasnt that sorry though. My dad likes to leave gas eww.

I agree, when someone has an issue with gas, they try to cover it up or leave the room, doing it on pourpose to offend is one thing, but having gas is not something we can avoid, it is part of the digestive process, so an "ooppssiiee" is what it is, and I was taught to ignore flatulence.  Yeah, sometimes it is funny, when one sneaks out at an inopportune moment.

In the case with the coworker doing it on pourpose and being proud, that is just GROSS, and I can see how that will start fights.

That co-worker should of been fired. But of course, HR would have to look at the rule book to see what it says about how to fire someone for being too gassy and intentionally vulgar.

Yes, it is best to just ignore it when one gets out by accident, but sometimes it's hard to. For instance, a couple of years ago I was at a large Bible study one night. The room was filled with about 50 people. It was very quiet as the pastor was giving his Bible lesson. Then all of a sudden, a really loud, obvious one was cut. No way you can ignore that! Everyone just politely giggled as it was pretty funny. But no one demanded to know who it was, saving the person the embarrassment. That I think is really rude. When someone accidentally lets one fly, don't mention it. Don't ask who did it, comment on how bad it smells, etc. Lliek that saying goes, "the one who names it, claims it".

about the co-worker -- the company we worked for would keep people on long past the time they should have been let go.

Our company is spread out all over town.  (and is pretty much the only place in town. They own most of it)
It is a multi national business, but this is the 'home' place.  We have 12 plants so each is a little company on its own rights.

At the time this was going on my plant was almost all women (2 supervisor types and a stock handler, poor guys)

We had a 76 year old who would fall asleep, they finally MADE her retire

one with altzhimers (we had to teach her her job every day, poor soul) They kept her on till she could get SS.

one who only showed up when she would feel like it -- about three times a week -- (her mother, who also worked there, would go into the office and plead with the plant boss that her daughter just couldn't get fired, she would get to stay) For 30 years! Then they decided to come into the real world and she did get fired for not showing up to work.

and Ms Stinky Butt, who we had to put up with till she retired!
