What're ya doin' New Year's Eve?

MineralDiva:
Last year it rained.  So we didn't go out at all.  But the year before, we went to a local restaurant, where we know the owners...at about 11pm and hung out 'til just after midnight.  It was fun!  (And not too far from home...then again, nothing is on this mountain!  lol)

This year, we have tickets to what looks like is going to be a very fun NYE party, at one of the nearby Beds and Breakfasts.  The owners are a couple of really fun guys, who LOVE to doi it up for the holidays!  We're really looking forward to it...and lots of people we know are going.

So what're you all doin?  Staying home? (That's usually been us too, actually.)  Or goin' out?  What's your favorite way to bring in the New Year?  (Keep it clean!  lol)

I got invited to two shindigs. The first is the annual NY's party my friends through that I have been going to for the past five years. This year, another attendee and I decided that we were sick of it and were looking for something with more excitement. That party is attended mostly by parents with their kids, and we just got tired of sitting around year after year, being bored and watching everything revolve around the stupid kids. So this year another group of my friends are going out to dinner at a nice restaurant, then back to one of their houses for fun and games, then maybe walking to the river to see the fireworks going off. I am looking forward to this new change of plans. We might make a brief appearance at the other party just to pay our regards.

We usually throw a party, which is so much fun to put on.  When we bought this house, DH turned the basement into a bar, or as his friends call it, The Man Room.  Actually, all of the gals we know like it, too.  So, people can hang out down there, with the louder crazy music, play pool/darts, sing karaoke (sp?), or go further back in the basement to our wine room and do tastes or make their own concoctions.  Upstairs, I *love* to turn the sitting area into a lounge: large throw pillows & plants everywhere, mood lighting, play jazz, reggae, basically turn it into the groove room, lol.  We've always had an "anything goes" dress code, as some guests show up in pajamas (they know they aren't driving home), and some like to pull out their best/funniest outfits.  A couple of us girls like to find crazy vintage gowns, then go barefoot or in slippers.  We're an odd group, we know.   :D

This year, lots of new births and marriages, so the group has split a little.  We'll still have a party, but it will be much smaller and most who are coming will want to hang out in The Man Room, lol.

Really...I just like any excuse to dress up and make fun appetizers!

Cupcake Fiend:
We are hosting a small party.

I'm very excited, I used to host a party every year, but when DH and I married, we decided we could only handle one big party each year.  His Halloween party meant so much to him that I gave up the New Year's Eve party.  Since we have not done the Halloween party for the last couple of years, for varying reasons, we decided to do the NYE one this year.

Of course, the party is going to be small because we forgot to send out the invitations :o. (Long story...)

Lisbeth:
I don't know yet.

I've been to Times Square a couple of times (1998-1999 and 1999-2000) when I first moved to NYC and for the millennium change, but that was enough for me.

But I'm sure that, if nothing else, I will watch the ball go down on TV.
