We go to an annual party thrown by friends. Usually a jam session breaks out in one of the upstairs bedrooms, so that's where I'll be. Yeah, I like to ring in the new year with my Grace Slick impression. I certainly hope my cold goes away enough by then!

I'm working till 7pm, then I'll go to the Chinese restaurant around the corner and have dinner and a fortune cookie (my fortune for the new year!).  Then my fiance and I'll just sit around playing video games and watching the ball drop on TV.  Pretty boring, but hey, we're quiet people...

I've never been to Times Square on New Year's Eve, but I'm not sure I'm willing to go voluntarily into such a smash of people (my new made-up term). I think I'll stay in my Maryland home and not be out with the crazy drivers.

Not worth it. I spent a NY's Eve in Times Square years ago, and ended up hanging out at the Milton Plaza Hotel instead of being in the crowds. We would of had to get there hours before just to get a place, and I just didn't think that it was worth it. I don't regret it.

I've only been to ONE New Year's Eve party in my life.  Sad, huh?  :P

Our community has a First Night celebration every year (alcohol-free, family-oriented venues) and you can go to events all over town.  For the last four or five years, our skating club/Learn to Skate has put on an exhibition, but this year they didn't pick us! Aaauuuuggghhh!!!

Our regular viewers will be disappointed. And now I have nothing to do.  :'(

You can still go to First Night, can't you? I'm sure there would be other activities there you can do. I've never been to the one in our area, but it sounds like fun.

It's a date with Dick Clark and munchies, as usual, then watching the Capital 1 Bowl (sp?) the next day.  My nephew plays TE for Penn State :).

I guess I could, but around here, if you go places by yourself, people act like there's something wrong with you or you're looking for a "date."  I think I'll stay home and have a Harry Potter film festival!  :)

It's just as well...my skates are sharpened wrong and I have no edges, so I can't skate my program properly anyway!

Last year it rained.  So we didn't go out at all.  But the year before, we went to a local restaurant, where we know the owners...at about 11pm and hung out 'til just after midnight.  It was fun!  (And not too far from home...then again, nothing is on this mountain!  lol)

This year, we have tickets to what looks like is going to be a very fun NYE party, at one of the nearby Beds and Breakfasts.  The owners are a couple of really fun guys, who LOVE to doi it up for the holidays!  We're really looking forward to it...and lots of people we know are going.

So what're you all doin?  Staying home? (That's usually been us too, actually.)  Or goin' out?  What's your favorite way to bring in the New Year?  (Keep it clean!  lol)
We never do anything, but, we did go out for dinner with a couple of our friends to a nice new Italian restaurant.  We were home real early, about 7:30.  Every new years eve I think about the middle 1960's and how my sisters, friends and I would spend the entire day getting all dolled up for the evening and then spend the next day sicker than a bunch of dogs, nursing hangovers and cringing over things we said or did that in our now sober state seemed so loud/stupid/gross/embarrassing.
I've never knitted anything I could recognize when it was finished.  Actually, I've never finished anything, much to my family's relief.

We started our shindig off at our friend's apartment across the lake. They had jello shots & sangria, along with some yummy hummus & other snacks. The party then moved to our friends townhouse in the complex, where bunches of us had contibuted food (we arranged that those of us in the complex provided food & liquor/mixers, with guests bringing beer & champagne - usual for us). We had smoked ribs, baked mac & cheese, potato salad, veggies, and i think cake. At my place we had a pepperoni & cheese tray and cookies to snack on while making several different types of 'martini' drinks - appletinis, chocolate martinis, etc. By the time we moved over to our other friend's townhouse everyone had had a few, and all were in high spirits. With so many places to stay - 6 in all - no one had to drive. It worked out beautifully.
It's alright, man. I'm only bleeding, man. Stay hungry, stay free, and do the best you can.
