Lovely Students
« on: February 25, 2011, 05:56:22 AM »
I work in an out of hours school care. There's a boy there who often ends up being one of the boys involved in the fights and arguments. Today though, after an incident where a boy with down syndrome caused some issues, he took him under his wing and found him some books to read! Sat outside with him (it was outside time) and got him enthused about the books, and helped him read them. Later on he was telling him jokes. It was so absolutely sweet, and I told him and his mother how impressed I was at his leadership and helpfulness.

Awesome!

One thing I noticed about the kids who cause the most trouble, is that sometimes they also have the most potential. They just need a healthy direction to channel all that energy.

mm, there's a girl there who can cause a lot of trouble too, but then she jumped at the chance to help with letters to parents, there's a list on the wall of 'fun things to do' created by her, and I've seen her helping younger kids read. She has huge potential.
