Donation for the Japanese
« on: March 12, 2011, 02:17:35 PM »
Does anyone want to join in in collecting for assistance to the Japanese following the earthquake and tsunami?

Any funds collected will be donated to a charity that is giving aid to them.

I have a PayPal account-PM me for the information.

Since I am unemployed and money is very tight, I was able to give only a small donation. However, I am pledging 25% of the value of several items in my store (I will probably extend to everything, as soon as I can edit it all). This is my full profit margin.

ETA: if you drop me a line saying you are buying for Japan, I will extend this to any item you get.

I have gone ahead and donated directly to a charity...it seems sort of off to me to solicit people to donate into your personal pay-pal account.

Of course, I don't think you're going to keep it or anything, It just seems if someone wants to donate they could donate to the charity of their choice...

There is a chip in for the animals - http://www.yourdailycute.com/2011/03/paws-for-japan-day-to-help-japans.html

and World Vet is on the ground to help the animals left behind so I donated to them.

Sorry, I'm already trying to promote the Indie Authors Relief Fund (for the Red Cross).

Also, for anyone who doesn't have much money, but wants to help, the site below is donating to International Rescue Commitee who are providing funds and supplies to Japanese charities on the front line. Visiting the site, or clicking on the ads will raise funds that are paid to the charity directly at the end of the month.

NOVA Lady, I made this suggestion in the spirit of group giving as Ehellions have done in the past. The sole reason I mentioned my PayPal accoiunt is simply to facilitate collecting contributions that can then be forwarded to a charity which in turn will donate them to the relief of those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and Ehellions have also donated through PayPal accounts before as well. If the prior occasions weren't "off," then to suggest that this one is is very insulting. We could have discussed and selected the specific charity together.

Please keep donating. As some of you know, I was, until recently, a teacher in Japan. Very recently. As in, I just got home on Monday. My city, Kamaishi, was one of the cities hit hard by the tsunami. I saw the wave, I saw the damage, and it was devastating. People there are going to need help for a long time coming. Thank you to everyone who has donated!
William wondered why he always disliked people who said "no offense meant." Maybe it was because they found it easier to say "no offense meant" than actually to refrain from giving offense.
