Tire tracks on my lawn ... HOW RUDE!!

(1/2) > >>

Shoo:
This morning as I was setting my trash cans out on the curb, I noticed that someone had driven over my lawn!

Our house is set back from the street quite a ways, so we have a fairly large front lawn on both sides of our very long driveway.  Someone drove up over the sidewalk, over one corner of one side of the lawn, across the driveway, and then back across the other side of the lawn and over the sidewalk again back into the street.  Like a big arc.

There was mud and grass splattered all over the back of my dh's car, which was parked next to mine on the driveway up closer to the house.

Can you believe the gall of some people?  If I thought it would do any good, I'd call the police, but I can't imagine there's anything they can do.

Grrrrrr.

My parents have a huge front yard on their corner lot and years ago, it was fun for people to cut across it with their cars.  One time, somebody got their car stuck because the yard was quite wet.  Darn, such a pity.  Word must have traveled because that seemed to cut back on the fun.  ;D

There are a lot of ways to prevent this and all of them cost you money.  :)  Even a low retaining wall around the perimeter will do, a hedge or row of shrubs might.  A security camera would at least record the trespassing and property damage.

People in neighborhoods around here have resorted to putting large rocks sticking up every 5 feet or so across the front of their property. They wouldn't really do any damage to a car, but they could ruin the tires.

Clara Bow:
Our neighbor's idiot teenager tiretracked our yard when we were moving in. My hubby had a long talk with their dad immediately. What was funny was the day I caught one of the son's equally brilliant friends turning his truck around on my grass, spinning his tires. Just as I was headed out the door to brain him, my neighbor came out his door raising the roof with the kid. That was the last time we had a problem....

We watched one afternoon while a car drove past neighbor A's house, slowed down, having realized they'd gone too far, and backed into neighbor B's drive. Then, to impress their friends, spun their tires pulling out of B's drive, propelling gravel onto the car in the driveway.  (The Bs weren't home)  DH walked down, made note of the licence plate, and informed the As and their guests that if the Bs complained of damage to their car, he'd have no choice but to tell them what happened.  It wasn't as if the car was an old wreck, it was only a year or so old.  The As were good neighbors, in short order they outgrew these kinds of friends.
