Guys at the pub.
« on: December 28, 2006, 12:19:50 PM »
My mom, my son and I had dinner last night at a pub sort of place (The Maine version of The Brick from Northern Exposure).   My son went out ahead (he can't sit still) and waited by the door.  My mom, however, decided to go out an exit closer to the truck.

There were two gentlemen outside smoking.  When my mom came out, they sprang to attention.  They all but grabbed the door out of my hand and  took her by the arm (no handicapped ramp) they led her down the stairs.  One guy even wanted to escort her to the truck.  I said I had things under control and he reluctantly let me take over.

All this time they are saying "let me help you" "allow me" and finallly "you're cute!"

I think they were 2.5 sheets to the wind.

2.5 sheets to the wind, quite possibly, but isn't it nice that they were so helpful?

At least they were nice and not obscene or oblivious. She probably reminded them of their own moms and got a little guilt for being snockered in front of her.
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

Where are you in Maine? I'm on the NH Seacoast.

I guess you can say at least they were polite, and were probably acting up because they were loaded, but I remember one time having an acquaintance faun over an older female relative who was with my dh and me, to the point of repulsion.  We were each were suspicious of his motives, but she just loved it.  Turned out he was very weird and potentially dangerous.  So, I hate it when someone is "too" nice to be believed.  It sends my flags flying.
I've never knitted anything I could recognize when it was finished.  Actually, I've never finished anything, much to my family's relief.
