I got new shoes, yay!
« on: December 29, 2006, 01:05:43 AM »
This shouldn't be a big deal to anyone, least of all to me, the girl with the 40 pairs of shoes, not counting my flip-flops.  :o

But I couldn't resist tonight at Big 5 Sporting Goods when they had all the shearling boots on sale (no Uggs, at least the brand name - I do understand Uggs as a brand name is a sore point with Australians because to them all sheepskin boots are ugg boots or ug boots or ugh boots!). Anyway, I was wearing my white shearling boots, so I didn't buy any other boots (the ones I wanted, they didn't have in my size) but they had black sheepskin-lined clogs. And they are adorable. And toasty. And cost me 20 bucks - when they had been regularly priced at 50. I can't resist a good deal when I see one!!

(I probably should have explained earlier that I just got rid of about 8 pairs of shoes a couple of weeks ago, but it pains me to part with shoes. My mom was utterly shocked, but it was just time for some of those shoes to go. Maintaining entropy in my shoe collection is kind of important to me, though, so those 8 pairs are slowly being replaced with 8 new pairs. I just bought 2 - 6 more to go! Hehe ;D).

I'll post a pic tomorrow....bedtime now! :)

Congrats on the new shoes!!
Im not a huge fan of shoes, only have enough to get me by in everyday life..have always had issues with my feet, even as a toddler,so i find it hard to find shoes that fit me.

And no,my feet look normal..just had to have corrective shoes as a kid for a short time, and now, just to big and wide(about 10 1/2 to 11,which is not so uncommon, just have trouble with the width for most shoes)

And yes, Ugg boots are totally 100% Australian in name and make. I dont care what the rest of the world wants to call them,Ugg boots is fine..just as long as the Ugg boot stays the genuine Aussie brand/name/company etc

I can see how they would suit colder climates though..keeps feet toasty warm!*L*

I still cant quite get over the fact that they were once thought of as very daggy, and would rather be caught dead then being seen wearing ugg boots!*L*

To true!

A very 'Westie' thing back in the 80's..along with desert boots..

Westie=Western suburbs(of which i am proud to belong!)which also generally means(or has the impression there of)a 'lower' income class, say compared to the North or Eastern suburbs of Sydney.
The whole flannelette(sp?)shirt and ripped jeans "Where's me smokes love.." deal*L*
Not quite rednecks,but just about..

Oh,and for the record..being true blue Aussie and all..flip flops are Thongs!! Another great Aussie invention! At least i think so..hehehehe

over here, thongs are a certain type of underwear. That certain types of girls whom one might term not-very-nice let show over the top of the back of their jeans.

Me being a nice girl, I don't do things like that. I'd rather leave it to a guy's imagination what kind of underwear I'm wearing, even if it's just plain old everyday cotton undies....you know?
