Question about the little email envelope under my avatar

I have set my e-mail to hidden; yet when logged in, a little envelope displays under my avatar. When I click it, it opens up an e-mail (to myself).  If I am not logged in, little envelope does not display.

Question: if my e-mail is hidden, why is that little envelope there? The resulting e-mail displays my e-mail address, which is what I am attempting to hide in the first place.

I don't see the envelop.  If you have marked e-mail as private, it only shows up for you.

Is it just me or is that weird? It generates an e-mail to myself....I don't get the point. Sorry if I am being thickheaded.

Yeah, I don't get it either.  It must just be a quirk of the security settings.

Oh, this is for whoever is the admin that approves/denies new accounts.

I tried to open a 2nd account @ ehell to test this situation out and the 2nd account has not been approved yet so I never could test it out personally. So feel free to cancel that request if you want to. I presume you figured out I already had 1 account here and thus did not approve the 2nd one, which makes sense.

Have you considered a "junk" email address? Something that doesnt have a name in it, and doesnt identify you? That's what I have for my email here/other places.
