Used a Variant at Work
« on: June 01, 2012, 02:43:02 PM »
I work in an agricultural office (not the USDA, but similar enough). Today I had a phone call from someone who wanted to complain about unethical treatment of livestock. She ranted for awhile about how as a human being she couldn't ignore what was happening to livestock and how disgusting it is that people don't seem to care. Then she threw it out. "What do you think about it?"

So I used my variant: "I'm sorry, I cannot discuss that issue in a business setting."

Worked like a charm.  ;D She totally understood, apologized for asking, and was happy to let me send her over to a supervisor.
"I am, in fact, a hobbit in all but size."
