Newsweek Princess Di cover
« on: June 28, 2011, 09:05:23 PM »
Has anyone seen the Newsweek cover:
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/wire/la-et-mog-newsweek-cover-diana,0,4590218.story

I understand wanting to be provocative and edgy, but wow  :o. I find it really distasteful and sad for her family. Is this as bad as I think it is or am I overreacting?

(I don't know if this is quite the right folder, none really seem to fit).

As do I.  I wish the sensationalist media would let her rest in peace.

Reprehensible.  If I had a subscription to Newsweek I would cancel it and let them know why.

She is not "at 50".  I'll admit that I was never a big fan of Diana's - but she deserves to be let alone.

That just makes me sad.  If it's not bad enough that the media cannot seem to just leave her alone this story must be really upsetting for her family - who the heck needs to wonder, "what if?"?

I just have one question for the editor: what were you thinking?

That is horrible. Can't they just let the woman rest in peace? Not to mention her family and friends...

During the wedding hoopla, I found myself wishing Diana were there and wondering what she would look like, how she would act, etc, so I understand the impulse. However, I kept those thoughts IN MY HEAD. That cover is seriously off and kinda creepy.

ITA with this, down to not being a fan of her when she was alive. But her children are very much alive and don't need to see a creepy photo-shop of their deceased mother. Tasteless and really quite unnecessary.

This will sell!  We have to stay in business, people will like it!

I was never a big Diana fan either, but leave her alone.

It's horrible. I wonder what William and Harry have to say about it.

Ditto.

Most of the public response I've seen to it has been highly unfavorable.

Of whom you speak,

This is really tasteless and creepy!

The people who wrote and published the story seem to forget that this was a real person, with real family and real friends. Her son must have missed his mother at his wedding, no need to rub it in!
